But seriously, while I don't mind opening up the tourney to other people, if we let this grow into another FFR League, its just gonna get watered down with Beginner and Moderate noobs and then it's gonna take a month just to sort through one round. >_>

let's give beginners a chance to compete. set a limit to how many people can join each group, and when it's full, its full.

if you're going to set a limit... make it like 128 in beginner, 48 in advanced and like 16 in expert...

something like that. then run beginner in a straight single elimination, 7 rounds til the winner.

run advanced as a round robin 1st round, 16 groups of 3... each group will play for 2 weeks... 2 songs, 1 vs each of your opponents. after that, top 2 advance and you have 32 play in a single elimination for 5 weeks. 7 weeks total.

OR

run advanced with 32 as a 1st round round robin, 8 groups of 4, play 1 opponent each for 3 weeks, then the top2 advance. 16 people then play single elimination for 4 weeks. again, 7 weeks total.


then, for expert, you have 16 people play an un-AAAable song week 1, for seeding purposes. then week 2, you have then play, with the losers going to a seperate bracket. week 3, 8 winners play and 8 losers play. week 4 you have the 4 double-winners play and the 8 single-losers play. week 5 is the 2 triple winners and the 4 single-losers. week 6 is the 2 winners from week 5 single losers. week 7 is the winner from week 6 vs the loser of week 5 triple winners.... and the winner of week 7 plays the undefeated guy from week 5 in week 8. should the undefeated guy lose, it goes to week 9.

Heh last tourney anuj somehow got 1 good on silence.. crazy things happen when tournaments occur.
IMO, if there was a tourney, I think we should organize people by what tier they are..and just place a category for it.
Winner for tier 1.. winner for tier 2...etc...
Yes, there are other people who would join that have not been ranked on that list, they will have to provide a few ss so I could rank them for a tournament..
For those who aren't that great at ffr, and would still like to compete, I would simply just classify a tier 5 for any user. Tass, using his super powers and levelrank.php could clarify to make sure more advanced players are staying out of higher tiers.

Sounds great.

Minus the seeding week for Expert, I don't think it's necessary...seeding can be done subjectively in Expert anyway.

Also, I think that people should be able to compete in one level above what they are seeded in if they think they can compete. Of course, they would have a chance to lose very early on, but they might want to challenge themselves and get better that way.

if you're considering moving up to expert dore, it would kinda be pointless. It wouldn't challenge you anymore than high tier 3's would. It would just get u out quicker.

Interesting idea, but the problem is that it would let people have really easy wins first round, which I don't think would be beneficial.

we figure we'll make a front page news story, which will draw in 100 or so noobs. they'll all play beginner (for the most part). those that will play advanced and expert are already people who troll here.
