game's pretty much been dug into a hole now, don't see it going anywhere without a significant drop in interest and proportionate increase in general coord

Bandwagoning because I'm curious to see if this can even manage to get out of new bark town. It's at 130 in-game hours now with a lvl21 Cyndaquil and can barely manage to walk anywhere at all...

if it gets to the second town I'll be very surprised. What's controlling it anyway? I know RNG has to do with it, but how is it being used?

Also for the sake of not spamming this thread with off-topic it should probably just be answered in the FAQ below the stream maybe.

I'll check this every now and then though lol

at this rate they'll be done by next week.
dunno if this is true now because of arcnmx's stream. I guess the people playing really do have quite the effect on how this game is going to be completed.

edit: I've been watching for 10 minutes and he's never once gone past the first ledge out side of town. Is there a pattern to the RNG? Something seems off.

I just searched around for an open source gameboy emulator, found gambatte, and edited the source to unlock the framerate and input random commands.

That's the beauty of twitchplayspokemon. The hivemind may be completely retarded and delayed by 30 seconds, but they have a collective goal in mind - and they don't stop spamming commands that are likely to bring them to that goal. The incorrect and troll commands are just random noise, the whole system tends toward completion of a goal, and they can get a lot done through it.

My RNG goes like this: every frame it just picks a new random button and presses it. If that button happens to be start, it only sometimes lets it through. There's no real pattern to it, but since it's not true randomness it's possible that it tends toward certain buttons. An even amount of direction presses should generally end up with ash just walking around in circles, tending toward where the walls guide him.
The issue my game is having right now is that there's a one-square entrance to the path it needs to go, and there are ledges everywhere that are really easy to jump off of. It's not likely that it's going to make it anywhere because of that >.>... But, I'mma go to sleep and leave it going for 10 hours and see what it's like when I get back. I expect no progress besides a super-levelled cydaquil. Maybe I'll switch to another game after that.

Also TwitchPlaysPokemonPlaysTetris would be interesting as an RNG

I think they'll get that.

I'm pretty sure safari zone for surf will be game over though.

Someone fill me in on where they are. I can't see the stream right now.

The floor maze is going to be really hard. A one tile down to get in, THEN a one tile left to even give it a go without accidentally leaving. This is going to take days.

Now, if they put in a micropayment option to pay 50 cents per move to input a chain of moves in a row...

...You know what, that's so hilariously awful that I can see that work, dev, lol.

Though if it was just a dime, it would be even better.

You know what would be interesting...since you have to register to Twitch to do anything there:

If they set up a system where the game reset every 7 days, and then at the end of some long span of time, maybe the year, they awarded a cash prize for which iteration made it the furthest through the game, divided proportionally to how many commands each user entered during the winning run :P

I will write a script of inputs that wins the game and pay 50 cents to get it to play from the first step of the game while putting in a bunch of up/down canceling commands to inflate the inputs.
