if it gets to the second town I'll be very surprised. What's controlling it anyway? I know RNG has to do with it, but how is it being used?

Also for the sake of not spamming this thread with off-topic it should probably just be answered in the FAQ below the stream maybe.

I'll check this every now and then though lol

at this rate they'll be done by next week.
dunno if this is true now because of arcnmx's stream. I guess the people playing really do have quite the effect on how this game is going to be completed.

edit: I've been watching for 10 minutes and he's never once gone past the first ledge out side of town. Is there a pattern to the RNG? Something seems off.

I just searched around for an open source gameboy emulator, found gambatte, and edited the source to unlock the framerate and input random commands.

That's the beauty of twitchplayspokemon. The hivemind may be completely retarded and delayed by 30 seconds, but they have a collective goal in mind - and they don't stop spamming commands that are likely to bring them to that goal. The incorrect and troll commands are just random noise, the whole system tends toward completion of a goal, and they can get a lot done through it.

My RNG goes like this: every frame it just picks a new random button and presses it. If that button happens to be start, it only sometimes lets it through. There's no real pattern to it, but since it's not true randomness it's possible that it tends toward certain buttons. An even amount of direction presses should generally end up with ash just walking around in circles, tending toward where the walls guide him.
The issue my game is having right now is that there's a one-square entrance to the path it needs to go, and there are ledges everywhere that are really easy to jump off of. It's not likely that it's going to make it anywhere because of that >.>... But, I'mma go to sleep and leave it going for 10 hours and see what it's like when I get back. I expect no progress besides a super-levelled cydaquil. Maybe I'll switch to another game after that.

Also TwitchPlaysPokemonPlaysTetris would be interesting as an RNG

On topic: jeez they've been in Celadon for a long time.
