Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
It works well with few levels, but with large amounts (like 100), it dwindles fast. I'll try and tinker it in spread sheets or something. That also means putting a cap to levels or complicating adding more levels.
Example of 10% degradation EDIT: not only does it make it dwindle fast, it gives levels extremely fast at the start. Not sure if we want it to be very fast > extremely slow or at a near-even pace throughout. EDIT2: Unless you mean start with a base amount and THEN increase it by xx%

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
Yes, it would mean to add a cap to levels at the primary position though only.
Right now the leveling process stands at 1-100 for the time being. When you hit level 100 you proceed into the bonus levels. At that time you can do whatever you want, but with a percentage leveling process it gives a clear cut basis to knowing EXACTLY what is coming up, and it's to your own needs. That way you can change the percentage so you don't happen to run into that 1.8b from 98-99 to a linear cap at the next level of only .2b increase to level 100... It creates a decent increase.... Not to mention, you can switch up the percentages PER level rather then doing a 1-100 whole entire percentage... You can have it so it's a 10% increase from level 1 to 2... and increase the percentage each level or however you feel fit. That would definitely take a lot of time to figure out, but at that point nothing is ... "predictable." EDIT: YES to your 2nd Edit. Give a base amount to start with THEN proceed with the % afterward. Plus, in most RPG's it's always easy to gain the first 20 levels fast. After that it just takes time and effort. Either way whether it's hard or easy it doesn't matter, it's to whatever you want it to be done. Last edited by krunkykai22; 08-8-2012 at 10:47 PM.. |

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
The only problem with starting from a base with hundreds of thousands or millions (since FFR uses thousands and millions) is that you have a ridiculously easy start for majority of the levels and the a RIDICULOUS spread for the last few levels.
EDIT: LOL let me fix this. This goes into the trillions ROFL. Example:

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
LOL Mikey wow that is ridiculous.
BUT, but, yes but, the beginning levels are meant to be easy so there is a feel for the procedure. I doubt anyone that has signed up here has a level lower then 10. Which in that example, it shows a decent increase starting around there. But, as you get higher in the level tree it gets more difficult to gain levels which is how it "should" be as I've stated already. All you would have to do is incorporate a certain percentage increase in experience per level. What I mean is: GTS would have a *% increase in experience each level past a certain requirement. Like ... add a 1.2% increase starting at level X so it still maintains a fairly simple leveling process instead of a steady percentile ... Believe it or not I'm confusing myself and that's typical but I know what I'm trying to say LOL I hope you understand it as well haha and Owen, yeah definitely every so often everyone should check the level ranks page to update their scores for increase experience. EDIT: Okay there are 4 people under level 10, but the experience increase in those beginning levels gives them the encouragement to proceed with quickness and stability. They get excited everytime they level so they keep going to progress faster. To me that's what every person starting out wants to do. Progress faster. OF course once they hit a certain level they'll realize they need not just mashing abilities but skill to increase more quickly. Last edited by krunkykai22; 08-8-2012 at 11:04 PM.. |

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
See now that is a much more reasonable increase for someone like Jerry and Wilson. That increase isn't treacherous, but it is difficult to achieve. Provides them with more play time in order to reach that.
And yeah I noticed the 4 people under level 10 :P my last edit on my last post said that xD |

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
% increases aren't looking too great. Mostly because it requires starting at a low base to serve for starters and it's a drool for starters for like 40+ levels then just gets ridiculous out of nowhere.

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
Yeah, after thinking it over it does server a minimal purpose for lower leveling ... It's more of a preference thing in it's self... Hey I tried lol

Re: The Unofficial FFR RPG [Beta]
I'm cool w/ taking a while for lvls. we haven't even had monsters, bosses, etc... those will start adding stuff.
in a normal RPG, grinding it out on the plains fighting randoms was a way to lvl up, but took a while. You got lots of exp when you went to dungeons, fighting the bosses, quests, etc... I recon this should follow that path. As for TPs, I'd like to see them get added somehow. I'm not gonna look into the math or whatever. Problem is that TPs as they are now are very much non-linear. need to be high D2/D3 to start getting them, then it's slow going until you can PA FMOs. then bam, huge jump in TPs, then slow until you can PA FGOs... so it'd be tough to add them as linear bonuses, and maybe not worth the trouble edit: any eta on the next event?
