QFT. any song with all blue arrows sucks bad. Im not saying Tass and Shash are right 100%, but the old stuff stinks like my socks.

And it's not like I care for some of the newer songs either (first token wasnt fun to me) but most everybody likes the new songs, and they WWHHHAAAYYY better then the old stuff.

IMO, jimerax is THE best stepfile artist on ffr. number of reasons... 1. basically every file he sends is amazing with no edits needed. 2. he's willing to step ANYTHING... hard, easy, fast, slow, 12ths, 16ths, whatever. you give him a song, he'll step it. 3. his steps FLOW WITH THE MUSIC, which is WHY they are accepted every time. when the music calls for hard sections, he gives hard sections... when it doesn't, he doesn't. he lets the music dictate his steps and not vice versa.

clearly there are others who do 1 & 3, but i can't think of another person who fits all 3 of those criteria. y'all could learn something from him, more than anyone. not to mention... he doesn't compain if we do have a rare minor tweak. he takes our advice, fixes it up, and sends it back. i've yet to have a jimerax file that isn't 99% awesome the 1st time and 100% awesome the 2nd time. plus... he steps quickly. usually a turnaround in 24 hours on songs you ask him to step.

so, my final words on this... be more like jimerax.

Sensorium- "Hello, I put 16ths where there music is completely silent! That's totally becuase blank space should have HARD STEPS, amirite?"

Mother of God- "The first three jumps have nothing to do with anything! 90% of the arrows have nothing to do with the music! I stepped sounds so quiet that my keytaps are louder, but Tass didn't dare call it overstepped becuase he faps to my files!"

Be Princess- "Wow the start of this song is really repetative. I could just admit that the song sucks but... nah, I'll just throw in a buttload of jumps that don't go to anything. Tass'll like that"

Ruins- "So I can make good files. About time."

just so you guys know--jimerax isn't MY favorite file artist too...rebirth is, by far. I've always considered JX decent, but not great, personally.

brb making Mother of God V2, which actually has to do with the music.

Expect it to be somewhere around a 4, which is more like what the music is.

Ouch ... that was kind of harsh.

I've seen files I didn't like from every major simfile-maker pretty much ... Granted, I'm not an expert, but I do know what I like and what I don't like ... and just because a few files don't seem to live up to the author's usual standard doesn't mean that he isn't an awesome simfile-maker.

And besides, those files have been in the game since I joined, and probably a long time before that ... you can't really judge a person's skill by judging simfiles that they made more than half a year back. That's like saying Shashakiro's a noob and doesn't deserve modship/being ranked #2 because not every song he plays is a AAA.

//edit: Err ... dang, you guys post fast ... or maybe I just had this page up for a while. Anyway, all of the above was written to address hi19's analysis of a few of JX's simfiles.

Yeah, we've received like one submission total in the last TWO batches where the song was over 200 BPM (BB Revenge), and we accepted that one...oh wait, there was one in this batch too, and it'll be a "needs minor tweaking".

Occasionally, it's fine. I think it's fun factor for not being repetitive/boring.

The only problem for that file is 8th jacks due to 4 frame jacks.

I was just trying to point out to Tass that there are no perfect files, and that people will ALWAYS disagree with something.
I know I'm guilty of putting steps to silence to change the difficulty or fun factor in that section.. Just see {Rose}.

And also I really shouldn't be saying anything after WoD...

I'm sorry again that I had to use you as the unfortunate example.

Being best artist or like that is meaningless, since it's just really subjective.
Some skills are still needed though, like syncing, analyzing the rhythm of the music, learning patterns for streams, FFR jack problems, etc.

Yea I agree there is no (or maybe, quite few) perfect file on FFR, or even SM.
Being perfect isn't a goal though, just make simfiles that you actually think really fun to play.

JX/Rebirth/Hi19 are good...
But omgrofl, I kinda like the steps Omegix uses (olllllllllld songs like Dot Death)
They're like. Iono. They really kinda fit the music.
To me.
I'm weird.
Dore has good files though, they seem to go as the music does, like JX's.
