![]() rant rant rant
I hate words ending in -um, particularly "medium." Where the hell do you think the word "media" came from? It's the plural form of "medium," referring to the method by which information is passed on between people. So television, the Internet, and radio are all media for transmission of information. Why people say "mediums" is beyond me. Although it's technically correct by dictionary definition, it's totally inconsistent with just about EVERY other word ending in -um, such as paramecium or datum (yes, that's where we get the word "data" from). Why on earth would this be allowed? "Mediums" is awkward to say. The only situation in which I would consider it correct is when referring to a spiritual medium, and even then "media" is more appropriate, even if it doesn't sound as fitting. After all, a spiritual medium acts as the "medium" between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Similarly, the word "criteria." It's plural. The sentence "There is not a single criteria I don't meet" is completely incorrect. The singular form of the word is "criterion." That's -on. Use the damn word correctly please. **** English and its irregular pluralization. |

![]() Question: What's correct "AAAs" or "AAA's?" I'd figure AAAs because it's not possessive, but AAA's looks more neat.

![]() My life finally makes sense.
I am guilty of using definately half the time. ![]() Aside from that, I spell everything else correctly in Chapter 4. Chapters 5 and 6 really tick me off. I cannot stand when people use your/you're and their/they're/there incorrectly. My blood boils just thinking about it. The misuse of itch/scratch annoy me as well. "I itched an itch." ![]() Excuse me? Quote:
I love you, Squeek.

![]() Alright, I figured that. So, does that mean FC's is correct, since it's the acronym for Full Combo?

![]() Sure.
But it's easier to just not use an apostrophe since that way is right 100% of the time. |

![]() Generally, affect is a verb and effect is a noun, although that's not always the case.

![]() It bothers me when peope say melk instead of milk and el-lin-oise instead of ill-in-oy for Illinois. The 's' is silent people. It happens a lot too, being from the Midwest and all.

'your' is a contraction for 'you are' 'you're' indicates possession, as in 'you're car is red'

![]() I don't know if this was brought up already, but why is the plural form of an object used when talking about zero of that object?
I wore one black shoe today. I threw two shoes out the window. There are zero shoes left in the display. Plural typically means more than one of something, so why is none of something considered plural?
