i was pretty good index. my PA was up there, so trying spread was awkard. my middle fingers had no practice and could hardly move. it took a good chunk of time.
maybe the style you used before effects how rapidly you can learn spread...?

For me it didn't take that much effort (I've being playing o2jam before SM). Instead of 7keys it was easy to adapt to just 4keys (I use askl). Just keep practicing, you will get the hang of it =D

What is spread? I always played with left middle finger on S, left index on D, right index on J and right middle on K. But this spread thing sounds good :C

Lol I was reading through the thread and LOL'd when Sara said that xD
On topic, I started playing two hands with the arrow keys, and then overtime I felt uncomfortable as I play, so I started spreading... Life is good from there PS: Take that you pervert ![]() |

It took me about a week to get used to spread. I'm still struggling to get to where I would like to be skill-wise 'cause my left hand is so much slower than my right. >_<

Spread?
e: I actually do dabble with it a little bit on SM but I have laughable MA so it never lasts I suppose it all depends on how often you practice with it

I've been playing split for five years. When I switched to spread, it took me about a month to learn. Then it took me about a year to get where I am today.

I played index for almost 2 years, I was able to AAA lvl 9 songs and clean FC FMOs. I changed since I notice that the new files where more spread oriented and I knew if I wanted to get better I needed to change.
It took me a few days to be able to get on the same lvl I was when I played index. But for streamy songs(Vertex Beta, Strangeprogram)it took me about a month ![]() Ps. I have been playing spread for almost 2 years now.

When I first tried spread it was awkward as hell. Even hitting 2 notes at once was weird because my hands weren't in sync. After a couple weeks though it started to feel natural and I instantly loved it much more than (1-hand 3-fingers).

Basically the first song I played spread on (The Entertainer) was just as good if not better than my one handed score. It took me like 5 seconds to get the hang of spread, but it took be a couple days to see a considerable skill boost.
From there, spread took me to much better scores in a rather short amount of time. Glad to this day I made the switch early on instead of playing one handed for like 2 years or something like that.

If spread is what I think it is (not playing with the arrow keys/playing with both hands) then someone told me that it's better than playing with only one hand, and so I started doing it instead. It didn't take learning, I just had to do it, it wasn't hard.

I had to learn it twice, first i learnt with the ring and middle fingers, but then my friend told me you can only go so far that way, so i learnt again with index and middle fingers.
