![]() Hey Mr. Vote4, take a look at any one of your replys and look at how attractive it is and how much you want to read it.

![]() In all fairness to Vote4Nixon, he has made a few good points.
1. Judging is killing creativity for everyone 2. "Newbs" have a harder time catching up in skill to the well known authors 3. Judges are hiding behind the excuse "we weren't as strict then" HOWEVER: The validity of a select few your points does not excuse you for your whining, crude language, and arrogant speech, nor does it mean that anything can or will be done about any of these issues. EDIT- Hell no, I don't like that one!

I wouldn't even begin to compare my talent with that of the well known authors but I'm still not having any difficulty catching up. Maybe it's a difference in perspective but whether a file of mine gets accepted or not, it's still a file, which is still giving me learned experience in file making. As far as new stepfile authors having trouble getting their songs in, I don't see how the well known authors have anything to do with it. |

Is there a such thing as a topic ban? Or I know there's an option to allow a user to only have his posts show up in a certain forum if a moderator+ approves it. It's going to be a long shot, but it'd make me (and I'm sure a few others) incredibly happy if it were to be implemented. ![]() |

![]() Man, some of these complaints suck.
I'm really amused by the comments that our judging is taking away "creativity" from filemakers. Do you guys think we're like "OMG, this file is DIFFERENT and ORIGINAL! reject reject reject"? Yeah, no. We outright reject files because we think they're BAD, not because we think they're different. We require minor edits because we think that a particular part of your file is BAD. Not different, not creative...bad. Or at least "could be better". I fail to see how we're "suppressing creativity" in any way. Do you guys really think throwing in random jumps all over the place in a file is creative? *cough*EHHS/Pants*cough*. If a file is overstepped, but in a way that fits the energy of the file, or really feels creative, we'll definitely accept it. And we don't judge files based on difficulty alone. I'll just put it out now that Zagh's X-rated Heavy would be prefectly acceptable and definitely queue-worthy, at least to me...and that's DEFINITELY a 12 in FFR. But the difficulty completely fits to music, so I would't have a problem with it. Or jacks. You keep complaining that we're ultraharsh on jacks, but well...the problem is that for the most part, the FFR-playing community just doesn't like jacks. It's not really particularly fun for most people to suddenly be restricted to 2 or 3 frames to hit an arrow when you had 6 to before. Yeah, we're fine with melody-fitting jacks when there isn't a better solution, but otherwise...it's the desires of the many versus the desires of the few. And the desire of the many (from what we understand) is to abolish jacks from files unless there's a good musical reason to put them in. I'm typically a very open-minded person, but quite honestly, I haven't seen a single complaint made in this thread that I honestly think holds much validity at all, and certainly none that are going to alter my judging in any way whatsoever. No offense to anyone, but most of the complaints just sound like you guys are whining about how horridly harsh we are because your files didn't get in. Or that you want the system to completely cater to YOUR ideals of what the game should be like, regardless of what the rest of the community thinks. Here's a general rule: if the reaction to a file is bad (note: this means the majority thinks it's bad, or complains about it), we'll adjust our judging accordingly to make sure it doesn't happen again. That's how some of our stricter guidelines (like overstepping) were created...essentially, they were created by the community's reactions to previous files.

I'm not saying that lots of text is always the right way to go. If people will simply "ignore" a post because they don't want to take the time to learn the other side's views, then it creates for a pretty one-sided agruement. Also, I think that if this thread is going to become such a huge debate that perhaps a new thread should be created for it, since this thread is getting out of hand rather quickly. |

Must've edited it out or something. But yeah, there's a limit. Anything higher than 250 BPM 16ths-based probably isn't going to work, simply because no one will find it fun.

![]() That's true Valtrix, but arguing a few points doesn't need to take up two whole pages worth of scrolling.
If you can't summarize and use your vocabulary, which you've either proven to be extensive or very reliable on the dictionary, better than that to say what you want to say in fewer words, then you fail. |

![]() To preface, I don't agree with the judges on all counts.
But they provide us with a service out of our own free time, the service of filtering out the crappy files to increase the quality of the game. They may be picky, but that pickiness helps improve the quality of FFR. If you'd rather large amounts of crap files sneaking under the radar (sup Crowpleaser), then bitch until Tass and Shash quit. Until then, just live with it and respect these guys for giving up their free time for the benefit of this community.

![]() @Shash: I'm glad we see each other's point. Essentially, we're both saying the same thing, though we may have disagreements here and there: FFR is designed to please the players. Also, that last sentence wasn't all sarcasm. I really mean it when I say it's hopeless because the system won't change.
