Edit: I noticed you mentioned saying my files will get better until they're queue-worthy. I don't know if you're saying ALL of my files will be queue worthy but I do have a file in the queue so far. Since then almost every stepfile I've made there on out is going to be in this update, so I have no clue whether I've reached "queue worthy" status or if that was just a one time fluke.

So let me resume this in my mind, there are complaints because the guidelines for stepfiles take out the "freedom" of the simfile author because they feel restricted and can't do a step pattern as good as they picture it, sadly.

I have thought by myself, why does the very current gaming feel a bit different, what happened in that time in which a new song came in and it was hard as hell to pass most of the times in which something as simple as gradeus could be considered as hard as E.S.H.S?, the updates were fewer it's true, but it was way worth it at the end, not to mention I have felt most of the songs aren't giving me that exciting and "challenging" feel into my gaming just recently and I'm not even a professional gaming addict like the top ranks in the server(no offense.), could it be just me...hmm.

Haha..

If my Color of Giggles (Heavy) and Lawn Wake IX steps get in, you'll be challenged enough. Though I'm fairly positive neither will make it, Color of Giggles is basically a jumpstream similar to EHHS and Lawn Wake IX's 32nd and 24th mixed bursts may trigger jack syndrome in some sections.

Cyanite: Whenever you make a file, wait to send it in. Play the day after and see if you still like everything. Bad things happen when you send in a file the same day you finish it (or at least for me).

Yeah, I know what that's like. You make a stepfile, thinking it's perfect, then a day later after forgeting most of the patterns you start to notice things that are wrong. Being an animator I run into that a lot.

I generally play the song through at least 5 times before sending it, along with stopping and playing the file several times during stepping depending on it's length. By that time I'm usually able to filter most things that are wrong with the file, but there's always exceptions.

The only guidelines for accepting a stepfile should be:

-Not understepped or overstepped DRASTICALLY.
-The song is in sync with the steps.

And then it's in. Because seriously, where are you guys going to get the 100+ songs for the tokens + SoTW, + the extra songs for other things (namely, secret songs, purchased, 3rd style)?

Taking more files isn't hard, especially since people have extra impetus to get their songs in the game (what with the incumbent access to pre-released songs). I disagree with the lack of criteria though: some files are fun, others are not. Some files are just "bad." They could be in sync and could go to the music but be "bad" at the same time.

How fun a stepfile is should be one of the most important things to take into consideration, because it basically encompanies all the other criteria. If a file's overstepped, understepped, or off sync chances are the file's not going to be fun. However an on sync, perfectly stepped file can still be boring and therefore shouldn't be put into the game.

Cyanite definitely has potential.... there were 3 or 4 files that I tested of his from this batch that I thought were queueworthy. Shash had a few minor edits in them, which after talking with him, I saw... didn't 100% agree, but that is the point of both of us. There were a few files that he had as queueworthy that I had a few minor tweaks too.

There is a reason we have the "Needs Minor Tweaking" vs just... Queue / No-Queue. So, yea Cyanite... I don't believe any of your 11 were put directly into the queue. But going into it, I was like "****ing ass... this little whore sent me 11 ****ty ass files..." and then I played them, and was like... "Hmm... he's getting better. These files aren't amazing... could use a few mix ups here and there... but overall are MUCH MUCH better than the files from even a week earlier." And, you already managed your first file in queue.

and stargrouper... your file was last edited on 2/4/07. we've yet to take a single file that was last edited in February, and still have 6 files from January.

Yeah I know what you mean, files like Warrior, Classical Insanity, Flower Forever, I have NO clue what the hell I was thinking. No edited offsets, offbeat notes everywhere..

As per direction from Hi19 I think I'm going to redo a good number of songs I sent you. Big Boss especially, I actually got the BPM wrong. How the HELL I managed that, I have no clue, yet without Hi19 I wouldn't have even noticed. I completely redid the file, I'm MUCH happier with the way it turned out. I'll send it to you in a second.

The main point he gave me was my overusage of jumps. I'm starting to realize that's what my major flaw was. I started making files inspired by stepfiles made for SM and tried to copy the style, as I typically enjoy playing Stepmania files more than FFR's. But I realize now it's completely unsuitable for the game and calls for less extreme steps.. Hopefully my edits of my files and future files will have better success.

Can't wait for the update... I'd really like to know what minor tweaks I need to fix to get my files into the game.
