I feel for you. I'm so sorry. My Dad got a brand-spanking new Vista not too long ago, either. He thinks it rocks - I think it's a piece of **** that has absolutely nothing new about it except for the fact that it doesn't run as well as XP did. We should place bombs in Microsoft headquarters because of Vista's existence.

Thank God I have a school-owned laptop that's on Mac OS X. But wait... I'm not going to have it in the summer... I guess I better buy a USB Keyboard so I can play it on my Wii then

step 1.) kill who ever got you it
step 2.) steal their wallet after you done with the killing
step 3.) go buy a windows XP disk/XP comp
step 4.) play ffr

or do what i did...

step 1.) break the brand new computer the first month you have it.

I can get anything, program wise, for free. So the cost doesn't bother me. I downloaded and used Vista on a separate partition... It was not only slow, my computers fault, but it looked horrible and had bugs coming out the walls. Plus the security is so tight you can't do anything.

XP-64
4gb RAM
1gb+ VC (if you don't want to buy a wicked video card, just double-up two 512s)
quadcore processor
forgot which motherboard to buy
1tb hard-drive
2ms monitor
wired mouse/keyboard (don't have to be awesome, just buy an optical mouse and a $40 keyboard)

And that's how you make ffr run perfectly.
(10000mb internet connection with a router that can handle it helps too.)

[LOUD CURSING]

What the hell was Big Bill thinking when he made Vista?
XP RUNS JUST F@#$ING FINE!!!!

Sorry about your loss man. I think you can still buy XP comps new, but they're getting harder and harder to find, and I think they'll be nothing more than a memory on the market by the end of '08.

URRGRRGHGH!!! [moar ranting about vista]

EDIT: *steals meno's computer*

Part of what I like about Linux is that security is tight enough in the right places so that nothing can really happen to your computer from the outside or the inside, but lax enough in other places so that you can still comfortably go on just like you used to. You'd have to give a program (including viruses, etc.) your root (admin) password for it to screw up your computer. Then again, Linux is horrible if you're a hardcore gamer. Can't play WoW or anything like that. Most big game companies overlook linux.

Linux's great weakness is people who fool around on the command line and type things like
# pwd
/
# rm -rf

Probably placebo effect or just that you've been playing longer. Higher quality doesn't really affect skill if it was fine before, major lag does. Unless you were lagging like crap before and now it's all perfect.

It's not stretching my page.
Change your resolution to 1280 x 1024 if you don't want page stretch.

Ya... I got 60-4-5-6 on Hatten Carnival, and I didn't even AAA Free Space. That's some badass lag. My brother is coming over soon, and he knows a lot about computers, so hopefully he can get me a good video card and a lot of other stuff to make it super cool and fast

Are you going to try the XP method?

Does anyone know where I can get the beta of flash? I just got a Vista laptop too but it doesn't bother me that much cuz I can play SM wonderfully, and I have ready access to a computer I can play ffr on, but if all I need is a flash beta to make ffr run smoother that would be orgasmic

Besides there being many assumptions and incorrect statements in this thread, yes, Vista still sucks.

Your best bet: IE7 with the latest flash beta from adobe labs on the adobe site.

Cheers,
