Alright, I may sound like a total girl, but that just sealed the deal. I'm buying that game because Johnny Depp's likeness is in it.

Not because I think he's cute, but because he was kick ass in that movie.

And the game will kick ass.

Mal

PS: He's cute.

I believe Squeenix will come through huge on this game because they got the unique new Disney Worlds, Mulan and Pirates of the Caribbean (two of my favorites) and the first games combat system was good enough that it doesn't need any major overhauls to make the game awesome (so long as they fix the camera). Does anybody know the U.S. release date? If it's before Feb. 26, I can get this for my birthday. XD

The specific U.S. release date is still to be announced... somehow I doubt it'll be done being localized after two months, though. :/ Oh well, you can always hope... who knows when they start doing voiceovers and all that.

I personally love seeing the trailers where you can hear the Japanese voices for American characters. Most of them are really accurate-sounding, amazingly. It's pretty funny to see Johnny Depp's likeness speaking Japanese, though. XD

87x, you didn't like KH's battle system? o_O I loved it. I wish I had more games with battle systems like that. I sometimes get this specific urge to whack things a certain way, and the only way to calm the craving is to pick up KH again and go Hearts-whacking. It's just really satisfying somehow, and I like how there is no separate "battle mode" you enter in order to fight. That gets tiresome in a lot of RPGs. In KH, if you don't feel like fighting, you can just run straight through... maybe whack something here and there where it's convenient.

End minirant... I really did love that battle system.

I have to agree with jamuko on the battle system. Kingdom Hearts had one of the most entertaining battle systems I had ever used, simply because it was so unique, and FUN. Sometimes, I play against Sephiroth with the Kingdom Key just for fun. I love the challenge.

EB Games told me that the release date is now "confirmed" for March 2nd, exactly three months after the "confirmed" December 2nd date that I preordered it for. Gamestop said it was a general March 2006 release, so I guess we'll just have to wait until Square Enix finally decides to release it. It's been TWO YEARS since it was supposedly going to be released.

I'm seriously thinking of ordering a Japanese PS2 just to play this game. I'm being totally serious.

Anyways, with the fighting system comes the most exciting addition: the Drives. You can now fuse with Donald or Goofy to become a dual keyblade fast action badass. It was cool enough to change forms but two keyblades? Square Enix has just stolen $50 outta my wallet.

KH's combat system: A basic slash-em up, except you have a wide assortment of special moves you can pull off. As the game progresses, it actually starts to become important that you know when to do what special move at what time for optimum amount of damage to most amount of enemies. Petty RPG-esque things like levelling up are there so the game can give you new challenges in your button-mashing skills.

Just to the trailer again, and watch from 1:32 - 1:54 The actual part of the trailer showcasing the fighting.. Thats where I gatherered what I said from. Im not judgeing a book by its cover im simply stating that I think it is going to suck like the first one. I don't like that free for all RPG battle system.

Also this isn't like judgeing a book by its cover/ a game by its trailer. It could be considered that if the book cover didn't have that paragraph Overview on the back. but Make the comparison accurate you would have to add that overview because that gives you a look to what the book is about, whereas the cover has nothing to do with whats in the book. Just as the trailer gives you a look into what the game is about.

You just contradicted yourself. You said that you aren't judging the game by its trailer, yet you just said from looking at the fighting in the trailer, you based you analysis off of it. If the fighting in the trailer is an "insight" into the gameplay like the Overview is to a book, that still doesn't mean the game is going to suck. I read the Overview for It and thought it would suck. When I actually read the book, I was blown away by how good it actually was. You can't let a little taste, ruin your appetite so to speak.

Despite his higher post count he still joined last year. Also, I went ahead and was getting ready to preorder my PS2 and KH2 from Lik-Sang, until a deal popped up to buy Naruto Taisen Ninja 4, a Gamecube Freeloader, and a controller all for $65. I had just recently bought a GC from my friend for $20 so I bought that instead. Now instead of KH2, I'll be playing Naruto.
