(i was also thinking of suggesting the "ffr rank", also under your name, but that seems somewhat overkill; most ffr users don't use the forums, so the gaps in rank might feel jarring and arbitrary)

it could be received poorly, a la dickwagging. but it seems that the site... seems... polite? i'd like it to be so at least, or if people were being mean to newbies, that the fact that they are being mean to *newbies* is now far more visible. the problem is nobody rly KNOWS where anyone is, bc its not visible at a glance

if people's "D"s were more visible (ha ha ha), people would be able to more quickly assess a person's abilities and needs wrt play styles. for example, RANK 1966 intermixed with AVERAGE RANK 587 or GRAND TOTAL 9114201234 doesnt rly tell u *much* at a glance. if enough people are willing to put their "D"s (ha ha) in their sig, it must be an important piece of information to signal. so it makes sense to formalise it

for example, i'm uhh, d2. i'm not the best at the game, but i assure you my passion is strong!! people will be now able to suss this at a glance, and help me out instantly if i am in need of help. they'll know what stuff i am able to AAA and FC and all that, and can give me appropriate advice. that the divisions are largely *invisible* leads people to privilege the mean user, that of say, D5-D6 level. whereas if people *had* their Ds out, naked, and in the open air, they might be able to see people with Ds roughly the same size as theirs to hang out with (i notice a lot of "D" solidarity happens during social events that involve them, like tournaments!), without feeling suffocated by the norm of Ds much larger than theirs

we can go on redit and post screenshots, achievements, ect. in the stepmania thread and get some more traffic and such. It sucks how much ffr has died, especially ever since ffr went down for quite some time.
