Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
I usually am against cutting songs because generally it breaks the flow of the music. a song cut works better the lower the quality of the music IMO. You can't even tell Back in the Day was cut, because it's rap and doesn't really progress, so skipping a verse doesn't really change the song. But if I had cut IDNYA it would've broken the flow of the song and killed its intensity, and while I prefer not to step long/repetitive stuff, in that case I had to do the whole song to keep the intensity of the music.

On another subject, lots of songs - even new ones -are offbeat. Songs like Pwntendo need to be fixed. Edit: Another thing - in response to bmah, yes. Unlike StepMania, there aren't any songs on FFR that are ridiculously difficult to pass (excluding vrofl, of course). Death Piano with avmisses was the only song that I recall that I had trouble passing. Now, without avmisses, it's FC'able. Last edited by Breakdown16; 06-17-2008 at 06:25 PM.. |

I believe that there's no difference between the 32nd burst on 800c and the 32nd burst on 1100c or so in Szerencsetlen. However, I always get a good on the 1100c burst. Can anyone speculate as to why?

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Maybe 'cause you now dread that part and anticipate it, only to mess up every time. Sometimes, when I keep messing up on a certain part (i.e. the fast rolls on Pimp Slap or the weird 32nd parts on Ska Cha Cha), I know the part that I missed is coming soon. Therefore, by anticipating it, I screw it up.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
There're repetitive songs that need songcut in the game, but as for "recent" long songs I have a feeling that they are fine as they are.
Death Piano is only 95/99 in difficulty, we still need uber hard files in 96-98 range (no dump of course). |

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
We would also need 91-94 range, because it jumps from 90, 95, 99. Unless I'm mistaken.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
you really don't need anything harder than death piano
also to be honest lunatic princess is really boring. I love behan and all, but it was just a bad file. first of all, it's pretty normal for a dbu song, so it really should've been cut. the steps were just horribly generic. I would've stepped the rhythm guitars or something :/ also, in my simfile awards list I don't have many step authors. if you guys could go recommend some more people or something >_> can't try anything out until friday but at least it'll be there so I'd know

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Ride Out was cut a lot and it is still a great song with great steps. One of my favorites, but when a song just repeats and repeats as time wears on, it just isn't as fun. The Brain Of The Moon is a fantastic song with great steps, another of my favorites, but it almost goes on too long. The second half of that song is almost identical to the first half. Thus, it makes the song long and boring instead of short and inventive.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Some songs are just TOO damn long though. For example:
Blue Army Divine Suicide of K Lunatic Princess BORING BORING BORING. I was half asleep during these files. I haven't AAA'd Divine Suicide yet since it's so goddamn long and boring. Once I do, I've no intention of ever playing it again. That's the case with a lot of these new long files; my friends all agree once they've FCed/AAA'd, they will never play it again.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Doing random reviews of files in 1st round of the tourney, I don't remember my old judgements well so those might be different from them.
FYI those acronyms mean accuracy, technical level, fun factors. [The Rhythm of Life] AC >>>>>>>>>>>>======== TL >>>>>>>>>>========== FF >>>>>>>>>>>========= Vocal based easy file, not many things to say much about this file. 32nds usage and some patterns could be better. [Hyperactivity] AC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>===== TL >>>>>>>>>>>>>======= FF >>>>>>>>>>========== Steps are PR, and technically accurate except for some jump placements, Decent structure for a file with this difficulty. Kinda straight forward and consistent but getting a bit boring due to repetitiveness. [Indulgence] AC >>>>>>>============= TL >>>>>>>>>>>========= FF >>>>>>>>>=========== Some rhythm change patterns are unique for a repetitive song, but misrhythmed parts and inconsistency make it awkward... especially steps for bursts are totally wrong. [I am Maid] AC >>>>>>============== TL >>>>>>>============= FF >>>>>>>>>>>========= Well, basically steps are vocal based and somewhat enjoyable, but a lot of steps for guitars and drums are inconsistent and misrhythmed. [The Lunatic Princess] AC >>>>>>>>>>>>======== TL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>====== FF >>>>>>>>>>>>>======= It has mostly correct layering and consistency. Some 24ths/32nds are missed or unnecessary, and want more style change for the length though. Previous version was more accurate but rejected for being overstepped. As for the song, TLP is my favorite. |

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Blue Army's full version being in the game was my resolution a long time ago, although I think I would have rescinded it had I know SO MANY long long files would be in the game.
I'd like to say that Mario Minor is the best new file I've played by quite a bit, REALLY freakin fun to play, props to behanjc for that one

It's still better sharpnel song for a marathon one, and had enough quality at that time.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
If you're talking about Saikyou Hyakkaryouran, well it's already been cut XD Half of it, the Full Version is really cool, but maybe too long for FFR and yeah i agree, Some part of Divine Suicide of K MUST be cut!
