Not lagging for me but I switched from Velocity's engine over to the newer one this past week and everything is fine ^^.

As far as I know, it doesn't. But the fact the lag always seems to crop up around 10-15 minutes after the new files go up and many hundreds of people are playing is sorta fishy...

for sure. maybe there's another factor related to lots of server requests. dam I ought to know more about this stuff
