Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
I liked the ding dong song because the great use of pitch relevancy and use of quads. We need more files like that.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
happy rainbow, to put it bluntly, was bad
tass you picked 2 really bad songs for such large milestone achievements. if someone has played enough ffr to reach those 2 goals, do you really think they would enjoy those 2 files compared to what they have played before?

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
A lot of bad files are being added.
Only good files came from the FMO/FGO event. Judges need to always be as strict as they were during that event.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
How come First Try in Skills is such a different kind of step? It feels like i'm playing Guitar Hero whenever i play it?

And it's stepped properly iirc. The stepfile always represents the song in question. I have no idea why you would think any FFR stepfile was like GH.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Yea current queue'd files are pretty old (our judgement style was too) and most of them don't meet the recent standard. It wasn't a big problem if those files had been released in 2007 though.

Happy Rainbow did take for-****ing-ever to get in the queue in the first place and there's still a bad response to it. >_>

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Does a stepfiles discussion thread mean you talk about the steps in the song?

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
that would be the assumed primary function. although really anything dealing with the song or file would be acceptable.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
I c. How come songs like Beethoven virus are way harder then songs like roses and butterflies(heavy) even though they are on the same difficulty level?

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Each song difficulty encompasses a wide number of songs. FFR has over 600+ playable levels. To categorize each specifically would require much more than just twelve difficulties. This thread compares songs by their relative difficulties.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
beethoven virus is probably one of the hardest 7s... it has some weird and awkward patterns. and, it's been a really long time since i've played roses and butterflies to comment effectively on why it is a 7.
but, i think the main thing is... not all files rated the same difficulty will feel the same difficulty to every person. for one, there are "easy 7s" and "hard 7s" and "mid 11s" and "low 11s" etc etc. that's why we have the Difficulties thread, which is on a 99 scale instead of a 12 scale. factors that come into play for an individual... potentially the blue noteskin, the 3-framer jack, and the awkward patterns to some in b-virus may make it seem harder. vs roses and butterflies, which is long and a bit easier overall. also a user's play style could impact on how hard it seems. trying to compare 2 specific files generally doesn't work that well, because there are a ton of factors that weigh into decisions and can change opinions for individuals. when rating songs, i never go "well, x, y, and z are all 7s.... so this is an 8" it is, "well, this is x hard, so it is a 7." edit: and looking at the difficulties thread... R&B [H] is a 41, B-Virus is a 45.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
this is why I'm so stubborn about my files being released as soon as possible
