Was just woundering if anyone else plays Final Fantasy XI: Online. Ive ben playing for about 3 years on and off (about a year total) and it seems so boring in game these days. But the god fights, sky, and sea are still loads of fun.
Im on Asura server my main char name is Kamakazie.

My buddy plays it.
He was OMFWTFPWNZOR in WoW, then quit because his guild disbanded. Now all I hear about in gym is "Jailer of Love this, Jailer of Love that" |

K, Elaborating.
Comming from both sides. I Have played both WoW(Only for 4 months) And FFXI (For around 3 years) WoW - WoW is much like a dulled down version of FFXI, For these reasons. The battle systems are complet BS, Either monsters are to hard or there to week and provide little EXP. Making it tedious and anoying to level multiple Chars. The graphics are way to cutsie-wootsie for me (But not for younger players i supose) And the environments are all somehow alike, i mean there are some variations in the Textures but the overall feel of each zone is somewhat the same. Another thing is if your like me and you like to craft in games, In WoW you can get any craft maxed out easaly inside of 3 weeks. If you put your mind to it. And you cant make any items that are worth making UNTILL your at the high levels. This makes for no competition between crafters. Another thing that i thought was funny was the virus epidemic(If you play WoW you know what im tlaking about) THAT was a completely rediculos Glitch that im not going to get into. FFXI - The over all feel of the game is solid, ALLTHOUGH the leveling in FFXI takes alot of time (I Didnt Get my first Job to Lv.75 for 7 Months of ALOT of playtime) BUT there is so much to the game that WoW doesnt offer, Like crafting that has almost limitless possibilities. Different Jobs, and so many different areas it will make your head spin. BUT its a MMORP ONLY FOR THE ELITE PLAYER. You cannot come into FFXI and be a complete jackass(Like i am here on the forums) FFXI is based around your partys and your linkshells in the higher levels, without one you get nowhere. But if you like an MMORPG you can realy get into, The storyline in this game is ****ing flawless, the renderings and the graphics are insain. And the turn based battle-system is masterfull. Beautiful. As far as it goes, WoW is for younger generation of MMORPG'ers and FFXI is for the more mature generation.

I wouldn't mind FFXI, but I REALLY can't get into it, it just bores me so much.
I crafted to like level 2 in blacksmithing and I'm like level 13 in my only job. That's about all I can bare, and that's after playing on and off since it came out. I've never played WoW. |

And people who say the enemies are easy, beat Kel'Thuzad. WoW is addicting once you start it, for me it is, I spend more time on it now than on SM anymore, hence less simfiles made, some enjoy that though. |

I've been paying for my subscription even though it's rare for me to come on once every half year -.- I dunno why, I just feel I made one day like it or something. Same goes for Runescape. |

Somehow, I doubt that :/ Unless "greatest" implies something really awkward in this case.
Anyway, yeah, don't bump threads unless you have some new info to contribute or at least say your IGN and ask if anyone still plays this game. |

FFXI lacks the ability to customize stats, which in turn means that if someone is the same job/race/level/cookie-cutter-gear as you, the only difference between the two of you is skill...which sortof leaves a lot to be desired. Ragnarok Online had a lot of flaws but I'd say that game is much better than FFXI. Mabinogi is also considerably more fun as well, albeit I don't think it has an English release. =/
All the same, I occasionally pop on Quetzalcoatl as "Mishaela", but only when I'm bored to death if anything else. |
