You should track down Star Ocean: The Second Story if you want a real game. Till the End of Time was godawful in comparison.

Do you mean Children of Mana, the new DS title? Legend of Mana isn't even a main Mana game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seiken_Densetsu Quote:
SO2 has much better non-battle systems (IC is TOTALLY broken in SO3) and much, much better characters (not that it really matters in an SO game, since the story sucks anyway). It's also a little longer. |

Better battle system? Star Ocean 3 lacks what made Star Ocean 2 great, and that is how hectic and chaotic battles were. It was FUN. Star Ocean 3's battle system is the reason why I don't like it. The fact killer moves take HP to do killed the game for me. And while the story isn't exactly stellar in either, SO2 really did have the better storyline.

Spamming Air Raid, Energy Burst, and Max Shockwave is some of the most fun I've ever had. Playing SO3 is all about the postgame, really - you're not playing the game until you're doing ridiculous amounts of damage with the best skills in the game, locking down every enemy stupid enough to wander into your path!
SO2's ownage is good too. Just put Rena on heal, have Claude spam Mirror Slice (or just mash X with the Eternal Sphere equipped), and you're basically good. Throw in Chisato for Tear Gas and Dias or Ashton for additional melee ownage and you've beaten everything. SO3 wins, though, because of the massive, absurd amounts of damage you can do later on. Ethereal Blast? Hell yes. Chained Energy Bursts spammed from across the battlefield? HELL YES. |

To be honest, I never got far enough in the game for that sort of thing.
If a game doesn't hold my interest in the beginning, I honestly don't care if it picks up later on. Just like with Wind Waker. I hated the stupid sailing. Friends tell me that I'm missing out, and I tell them that I shouldn't have to druge through hours of unplayable, boring **** at the very beginning of a game to finally get to the good stuff.

I enjoyed Wind Waker =(
Then again, I've enjoyed pretty much every Zelda game except the original Game Boy title "Link's Awakening" and the second NES title "The Adventures of Link". |

Link's Awakening was one of the best Zelda games of all time.
I really, really, really want to like Wind Waker, but I just can't. I never made it to the second dungeon because I wanted to try after I sailed around for like a half hour trying to figure out where to go next and then died without having saved in a long time.

I've beaten all three, and then played through them on challange mode (which is New Game + but on a higher difficulty and you can upgrade your weapons even more), so they've got some replay on them.

Man, come to think of it, I haven't bought anything since I bought Tales of Symphonia in 2005, I've been playing online games instead.
Anyone recommend some games(even if already stated here) that I NEED TO BUY in a good order? I think Moogy would be good at this, and I really need to get back into console gaming. I don't have a DS, a PSP, or a 360, but I have everything else. Try to name recent games, late 2005 at the oldest. |

If you want a list from 2005 (or any other year), give me some time. I'll need to look up some dates. Also, I highly recommend that you buy Persona 3 when it comes out in February. It will be the best game of 2007, hands-down. You may also be interested in Ar Tonelico, another neat JRPG that NISA is publishing in February. Comedy option: If you're fluent in Japanese, buy the PS2 version of Utawarerumono in November and Higurashi no Naku Kei ni Matsuri and Fate/stay night [Realta Nua] in December! Oh and Happy Sky CS comes out in December too. Last edited by Moogy; 10-26-2006 at 11:00 AM.. |

I wouldn't say I'm fluent enough in Japanese to really follow a plot, so I'm going to have to turn down some of those games.
Other than that, well, Wild Arms 3, I just didn't like it. I mean, the game's just fine, I just didn't freakin' like it. Not my style, I guess. I can like some really odd things and dislike others. Maybe I'll like the 4th one more, but it isn't very high up on my list to be completely honest. Out of the ones you've mentioned, I'm most likely to get Tales of the Abyss first, since I really enjoyed ToS, and beat it so many times, even getting to level 250 just because. It looks really good based on what I've seen in videos of it on Youtube and stuff. Disgaea 2 has "Disgaea" in it. It's 2nd on my list. I hadn't heard of Swordcraft Story until you posted it just now, but looking it up, it looks like something I'd like. Stupid question, but it's turn-based, right? If it were realtime, I think it'd just kinda kill the game, but I think that way of many games. I just like turn-based stuff a whole lot more. It's more tactical in a way, even though most RPGs only require some sort of basic tactic. In fact, I'd go into saying that I haven't really found an RPG that really challenges me mentally in terms of tactical. In some of them, it's even as lame as you can literally do nothing but attack for the entire game and use potions as needed with the excessively large amount of money you get out of battles. This game isn't like that, right? Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner also looks pretty good. Not much to say, really. Final Fantasy XII...well... I dunno, we're back on the idea of realtime fighting. I REALLY, and I mean REALLY couldn't stand to play FFXI for more than, say, a week, before I just couldn't tolerate it anymore. Over that week, I may've played it for 10 hours at the maximum. Then, I'd end up quitting for months upon months. I mean, it's fun for the first few days that you come back, but then it really just gets boring, and that's assuming you only play like an hour a day. Phantasy Star Universe is just something I'd play for the online gaming experience, and I don't really think it'd honestly last more than a few months. Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny is another Nippon Ichi Game. I dunno, to be honest, I'm probably going to buy the other two first. I've never played Baten Kaitos. Never played Shadow Hearts either, but this one looks interesting to me. Valkyrie Profile 2 is also one I am considering buying soon. It's probably 3rd on my list, or if I said something else was 3rd, it's still up there. What? --- Yeah, I'm not much of a console gamer. |

Yeah, hence "comedy option."
The WA series is one of my favorite series. :< TotA is supposed to be the best Tales game. It's also only 30 bucks if you buy it from Wal-mart, and 40 everywhere else. Both Summon Night GBA titles are side-view action RPGs with random battles, similar to Tales. The Summon Night PSX/PS2 games, none of which have been released here, sadly, are SRPGs. FF12 is the best 3D FF game. Trust me. Yeah PSU is retarded rofl. I own every PS2 game NISA has published, so yeah. Go for the others first, though. Baten Kaitos is pretty good. Great music by Motoi Sakuraba. Start with Shadow Hearts 2. beatmania IIDX 12th Style: Happy Sky CS |
