Unusual SM Problem...

This problem started happening a couple months after I got SM4...what happens is after every 2 or 3 songs I play, after I hit enter on the results screen, it goes to the loading screen and just sits there for a good minute or two, after which it goes back to song selection.
The same problem happens when I try to go from the song selection to the main menu after I play at least one song. I hit escape (or sometimes ScrollLock) and it just sits there for litterally 45 or so seconds before actually taking me where I want to go. It always takes 9 or so minutes just to play 3-4 songs, which really get on the nerves after awhile.
This problem has gone on for a while...uninstalling & reinstalling does nothing, and virus scanners show non-infected files. My computer is more than capable of running it on high settings, and turning them to lower or the lowest setting doesn't make a difference. Is there any way to get rid of this or fix it somehow?

Are you running the earliest release canidate of SM4? The later ones haven't worked well for me.

don't use 4.0 it's retarded

odi has links to glove's stepmania which is not only 3.95 (not CVS) but has ridiculous timing with good gfx already installed and lots of cmods

If you want to keep SM4 (which I think is better than 3.9) and you haven't updated it in a while, get the latest release.

I have the latest SM4...I think there's a link for it on www.stepmaniaonline.com, after you scroll down a bit. From what I read there, that's the latest one. It may just be my computer, because 3.9 doesn't do that. I got SM4 a week after it came out, and it happened like 2 months after I got it. Then I upgraded and it still happens.
What I found to be REALLY unusual is it doesn't happen to my brother when he's logged on to the computer. It takes him about 5 minutes to play 4 songs, and it doesn't slow down or anything like that...only when I'm logged on does it take forever :/

EDIT>> Yep, it says it's ''StepMania 4.0 CVS Intermediate 20060831'' which is the latest release.

Already tried it, and unfortunately the problem kept going.
Except when my brother was logged on...that I just find to be really wierd.

I'm going to hope that a bunch of cards fall into place when i suggest this, since nobody else is replying. Perhaps you installed it on his account, leaving it still broken on yours?

That might be it...but that got me thinking:

I have my 'My Documents' folder where nobody besides me can access it. My brother was always complaing about how he couldn't play SM because I installed it in 'My documents', and it wouldn't let him play it since my folder was private. So I moved it to the 'Shared Documents' folder so he could play. But he and I both use the SM in the Shared folder...

Ah well. It was my birthday 4 days ago and I got a brand new CPU as a present...hehe problem solved :P
