Question about bar raping

If I put only one hand on the bar, is that still bar-raping?

What if I only put one hand on the bar during the hard part of a song?

However I do find it hard to grab the bar with only one hand because then my left and right are not balanced. >_<

I'd consider that bar raping, but then I'd hate to imagine what holding onto the bar with both hands would be called. I personally don't bar rape, mainly because i'm 5'3" and it feels really uncomfortable with my arm on it, because it kinda pushes my shoulder up.

I wouldnt call that bar raping, sometimes every now and then i just naturally grab onto the bar in the back with one hand. But for really hard shit i hafta grab hold of the bar to keep stamina because of my damn asthma, which is moreso bar raping.

I have never used the bar except to lean on occasionally after a song. If you can't play a song without using things to help you out, maybe you're not ready for it. Besides, it's much more impressive when you do stuff without using the bar. The chicks dig it, or something. I don't know.

I agree with Varia completely... too many people see bar raping as acceptable. If you bar rape a song that doesn't mean you can actually pass it because, your just using the bar as your crutch. I'm not saying that you're not good if you use the bar, but the difficulty of the levels is lessened significantly by those who use it. I've tried it once and it does make the song way easier... well... I'd never get tired from it. It takes a good deal of the athleticism out of it, and it looks pretty stupid (well... a little more stupid than playing ddr normally looks anyways)

Anyhow, since this is about bar raping. For me, there seem to be some songs where...well you just can't bar rape because the steps are all over the place. and if you do, it'll just seemingly slow you down *take Orion for example. AH* it can be pure murder...Anyone else ever feel like that?

If you bar rape a slow or easy song, you look pretty dumb. I think it's only acceptable to rape 10 footers, but I personally bar rape some 9's (so deep for example), but I don't think I would say that I can pass with any confidence the songs that I do bar rape on.

No matter how hard I try...I just cant bar rape. The machines werent built for someone my size (6'1")...it is so uncomfortable and it becomes a bad habbit....so Just dont touch the bar unless you are about to fall over...or are trying to full combo a Max300-esque song.

Dude, i didn't even recognize there was a bar until i got off the machine the first time...when i get up there, the only thing that exists are the arrows. All the arrows, flowing smoothly, and that is all that exists in the universe (this sometimes causes me to forget to breathe). But bar-raping takes the beauty out of DDR in my opinion. DDR requires balance, and bar-raping nullifies that.

playing for score, anything goes. Trying to AAA something like a max song without the bar is just stupid (unless you can actually do it consistently...then you're amazing hehe)

I've seen max300 done quite well without the bar, and one time I saw a guy (barely) pass LOM without the bar.

the mall I go to is really big (there's 4 DDREX machines between 2 arcades) so there's a lot of very good players. And there's only a couple people that bar rape consistently on difficult songs.

well me and makaveli121212 played today for the and he is fricken good.. im not as good as him but im gettin there for how little i actually play. but he kicks ass, ive never seen any one get full combo on heavy holic on 1.5x reversed. but he did it, so no one makes fun of him. or ill kick ur ass. by the way, bar raping doesnt matter unless ur either going for a 9 or 10 or highest score possible
