This question is mostly about StepMania, but also about my keyboard, well I actually I don't know, that is why I am asking this.
K, ITG on SM. It is cool. But whenever I need to hit 3 or 4 at a time, I can't. I use the arrow keys (NOT the NUMpad). Only 2 arrows are hit. I switched the controls to use 2 4 6 8 on the NUMpad, and I can hit 4 at a time that way, but I am not used to that. Is this problem because of my keyboard, or my computer? Also, how can I fix it? I played SM at my friends' house (yah, multiple) and their keyboards all let me do 3 or 4 at a time. So that's odd.

I also tried another keyboard on it (wireless) it had the same problem. So do you think I just got unlucky two times in a row? If so, what is a good keyboard that will let me do 3 and 4 arrows at a time? I don't want to buy a new one and have it do the same as the others =/.

I play with two hands on the arrows (index). What exactly is spread? Is that with the two arrow keys and two numpad ones? Like, where you use left hand on the left and down arrows and right hand on 8 and 6? If so, I hate that one. If that's not what spread is, someone lied to me. My scores suck so much when I do that. Sometimes I even cry.

Spread is just what Moogy said: qwop or any other configuration where you have two fingers of one hand on adjacent keys and two fingers of your other hand on two other adjacent keys. fghj would also work. Typically, I think, all the keys are on the same row, though. As for your keyboard: go Microsoft. I have this badass one that's everything I could ever want in a keyboard, but it was discontinued a while back, so I had to buy a display one. It registers four keys at once, so I presume most of their other ones do, too. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

You don't have to play spread in a line either. My setup is:
; = Left / = Down 8 = Up 6 = Right Just experiment and find a set-up that feels right to you.

I know standard Mac keyboards won't do 4 arrows at once, and only certain combos of 3's.

Heck I am on a Microsoft Natural. Using the Arrow Key Cluster. It maps all 4 keys, and is interesting for my play style.

Actually, it fits to my hand pretty well. It is just another thing to get used to for those that try to play this way, but no, if done right, you dont have the clash. Certain keyboards, I have to pop out the enter key to play, because in gets in the way of the right palm. I have the keyboard tilted so my hands are equally facing inward, and actually becomes pretty comfortable, as if you hands were folded in you lap.
It also has its mental advantages, because people like to create certain paterns, that spread people have trouble with, that become easy to me. Because I am working on seperate hands, when they are working on the same hand. Then again, I have my own blind spots. If you could easily swap between my Cross-Hand, and the Traditional Spread, you could actually have an advantage over all. |

So, is there a way to map keys in FFR? I am probably guessing it is a no. But I will ask anyways. BTW, I have decided to go back to my old account. This one is better because it has no TK.
