So.
You have been a member for 0.89 years. 2347 total games played by you since 2005-04-19. Your grand total score: 201 121 695 Overall FFR rank: 12087 I've been playing forever, and I can tell the huge change since I started, but for a good while now I haven't been getting better (over 800 songs played is my guess). I play right handed, 3 fingered, and I've been blaming my fingers for being too stubborn to change. I know 4 finger/2 hand 4 finger is smarter, I just can't bring myself to change. Plus, I like the satisfaction in being able to say I play 3 fingered. Is there really anything anyone can suggest other than switching finger setups? PS. I played ASKL on FFR R2 and didn't find it TOO bad. |

Once I was able to pass every song with one hand, I decided to turn 2 hands, and its like I started the game for the first time again. So just change, pass every song from easyest to hardest, then work on combo and PA.
Plus it also helps to set your standards higher, if you don't set goals you'll never get better. |

well everyone says that 3-fingered isn't that great cause its not fast enough so maybe you've hit your limit? im one hand 3 finger too but i do a buncha other stuff like pen spinning and card throwing so my fingers don't limit me so i wouldn't know if thats whats your problem. also, try screen shrinking, it helps a LOT.

I agree with Argo .... Go with the switch >.> I tried 4 finger on the arrow keys first
but it soon proved to cause cramps so then I switched to <V86. You could always go play Stepmania. I find FFR easier with a transition from SM since SM's sensitivity is lower and you learn to hit arrows directly on. |

Same here. I started off as one handed, then realized that I couldnt' get any better, and switched. It only took me about a week to adapt

take the switch to another style advice and also screen shrink.
something else that helps me somehow is hitting the keys harder.

Thanks guys, I'm playing ZX./ spread now and finding the potential much greater.
Also I've been screen shrinking for a while now, but it won't let me play DOWN >< |

Take out the D and S.

Just learn spread, it saved my FFR life!
But really, I had pretty much capped on my abilities with 3 fingers, so I started spread. About 3-4 days later I was already better with spread than one-handed. It's worth it, no matter how goofy it feels.

One important thing to note while you switch--you are still about as good as you were one handed. Frequently I'll go back to try and one handed some songs, and I'm usually better than the last time I tried to one hand them. Unfortunately 2 handed is still way better for me.
I'm still getting the hang of down, though I find its usefulness lacking as it doesn't let me MP down. Screen Shrinking down is a bit of a pain too, since you can't just scroll down all the way and have it shrinked perfectly. Lol @ your .89 years. I knew ffr added a few extra months in... |

Open a new hotkey program and edit the program to whatever keys you want to this format for super spread ffr style! (left key)::Send {left} (down key)::Send {down} (up key)::Send {up} (right key)::Send {right} |

You're definently better than me probably. Lol.
someone has told me to try two finger-two hand trick. Meaning using two fingers from each hand upon the keys. Mine however, like to switch and do weird things, hitting random keys~ I never keep them on the same pattern. Use whatever suits you. Maybe a change will help though, to improve stamina on your hands. Mine hurt after so long but that goes with fast typing as well... like now. lol

What about me? I started playing four finger all on the arrow keys, then played with index over the summer. I am now better at index than i am at four finger, but i think im pretty close to my limit. Should i go back to four finger but spread, left index/middle down and right, and right index/middle 8 and 6?

TWO THOUZAND COMBO

Index just won't get you all that far in FFR...some songs are impossible to do well on with index (Pants or EHHS, for example) so you're better off using spread, IMO.
