I wouldn't bother telling her you like her when you don't know if she likes you back. That could stop you getting closer in the first place. Yea there's always that small chance she'll go "omfg I like you too lets make out" but I doubt it. You'd probably want to avoid her if she's like that anyway. I agree with anyone who's going for the "get to know her first" tactic. It makes more sense.
