A friend of mine sent me a Google Video link about "why evolution is so stupid."
Now, I didn't bother to watch more than 45 seconds, but I said "Hey, he's a pretty good speaker. Great with the crowd." and went on my way. Today... [removed]: watch the rest of the video? OmegaNoxim: No, not really. Didn't interest me much. [removed]: aha [removed]: the whole Christian thing OmegaNoxim: *shrug* OmegaNoxim: I'm not interesting in hearing why evolution is...what was it again? Silly? [removed]: Stupid [removed]: But he makes some VERy vaild points [removed]: I wish I had watched this before I took Biology [removed]: You can sit there and make [our teacher] look like an idiot OmegaNoxim: My understanding was that [our teacher's] job was to teach us. [removed]: Yeah. [removed]: And pretty much, it's wrong OmegaNoxim: Oh. OmegaNoxim: ...Really? [removed]: ... did you watch the video? [removed]: Holy crap. [removed]: This man pretty much just debunks EVERYTHING [removed]: I mean it, you need to watch it. [removed]: It's up there as a neccessity. OmegaNoxim: Hm. OmegaNoxim: I never really found it convincing that man could evolve from ape. No, I was never convinced of that. But you're saying this video demonstrates a disproving of Darwin's Theory? [removed]: Yes. [removed]: it is worth every second. [removed]: He says, "Evolution is a religion. Not science." OmegaNoxim: Okay, [removed]. I you've pushed my Curiousity Button, I want to see what's got you so convinced. OmegaNoxim: What'sthe link again? [removed]: he uses even the basics of physics [removed]: and he has simple questions that just make it look retarded [removed]: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...+why+evolution Okay. I'm skeptical. Pretty skeptical. REALLY skeptical. In fact, I'm pretty sure it'll be a bunch of fact manipulation and twisting unknowns. Maybe like that 9/11 conspiracy video. I don't expect to find myself persuaded by the end of the it. But if I am...I want you to be here to beat some sense back into me. And maybe watch the video yourselves. |

Okay, 26 minutes in, this guy hasn't changed my position one bit. I'm gonna stop here, because I can see he's got nothing.
Nevermind, Smart Squad. This is no threat. |

This guy sounds like a hack already (and your friend a gullible fool), and I haven't even started watching (I'm excited to, though). I've gotta say, though, if he makes even one mention of thermodynamics to support his side, I'm going to laugh my ass off and probably stop the video right there.

No need to even click the link. There is quite a lot of "religious" people that believe those guys because they like what they hear.

My friend doesn't seem to understand the difference between making something look stupid, and proving that it's wrong. Really, that's all he does. He ridicules the concept of evolution, but he never outright disproves it.

Watched about 15 minutes so far...
I like how he talks about how the guy he questioned about the big bang theory says "I don't know" to so many of his questions. Funny thing is, is that lets say the situation was reversed, and the big bang theory guy was asking this preacher things like where is your proof of god? Where's your proof that god created the earth? It's alot harder to prove something that relies totally on faith than to prove something that has some actual scientific research to back it. He also talks about how the big bang theory and the creationilist theory (or whatever he called it) are both religious because you have to believe in them. There's more to it. Big bang theory actually has research behind it, while believing in god and that he created the earth really doesn't have any evidence. You just have to purely believe it because you have faith in it. What makes more sense, to believe something that has some research behind it (and makes more sense), or believe something that relies purely on faith and has no evidence? Also, I agree with omega about how he pretty much only ridicules evolution. All he does is basically call it stupid. Funny how many "stupid" things you could find in religion. Forigve me it I sound stupid about something in that paragraph, I'm just talking based on what I know and my opinions.

First 20 minutes:
"Big Bang? STUPID! And what about that Big Bang? STUPID! I'm just going to keep repeating the fact that evolutionists can't describe how the Big Bang happened, regardless of the fact that I cannot describe how God came into existance, and keep using the word STUPID!" Your friend is very easily drawn in by humor. Yes he was funny, no, he was not even close to convincing.

Funny thing is the big bang was pretty much proven as a solid fact in april this year when WMAP got pictures from the beginning of the universe. Stupid idea eh? Well, that's how the universe began. I guess the universe is stupid.
And anyone who disregards evolution as some sort of a lie is a moron. I'd say evolution is pretty stupid. It's clunky and slow. However, that's how life works. There's so much scientific evidence. Most people that try to refute evolution really don't know what they're talking about at all. EDIT: OK I LOADED THE VIDEO AND THE MOMENT I HEARD THE VOICE I KNEW WHO IT WAS XD Do not watch or read anything by this guy. He is a ****ing moron. Holy S H I T this guy is a huge moron.

"I spent the best five years of my life in the fourth grade."
At least he speaks some truth. This guy's a total hack, he just opens up arguements only to close them with the statement, "Now that's stupid. But God on the other hand explains it all!" That's about as far as every statement in this hour+ video goes. |

It's pretty ridiculous how he can call the big bang theory stupid while he believes that some "god" created the entire earth in a matter of days.

Well, to his credit (actually, the credit shouldn't go to him whatsoever, but to those who share his beliefs but haven't researched it too much), on the surface it does appear that there are valid arguments from science against evolution. The only problem, though, is that with a little more exploration it becomes quite evident that there really aren't any sizeable holes in evolutionary theory.
It's really important to understand that you can believe whatever you want; if you choose to think that God created the universe in a matter of earth-days, that's fine, but you must also understand that evolution is a near-perfect scientific theory. ALL the empirical evidence points to its validity, no matter what guys like him can dig up and twist. This is just to be intellectually honest. Saying that mounds of evidence for evolution exist while none for creationism (which by definition really isn't a scientific theory) but still believing in creationism is perfectly okay. It's guys like this Kent guy who go and ruin everything by trying to apply scientific principles to a construct and searching for evidence to explain an unfounded idea. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com

holy **** rofl
"who bought the gas to run this machine" All of the matter that ever was and will ever be as well as all of the energy that ever was and ever will be was in a singularity and he can't believe that the singularity could blow out causing the creation of what we know as the Universe? This is really funny. Good find, Omega. EDIT: hahaha he says big bang is stupid because some planets spin backwards. He neglects to mention that they would only maintain spinning in the same direction if in a frictionless environment and if it's not acted upon by another force. Another force, like, for example, THE GRAVITY OF A NEARBY PLANET HAHA EDIT: holy cow this guy is dumb He just said that the Grand Canyon wasn't eroded by the Colorado River and was instead blown out quickly by a natural dam breaking. Not only does that not make any sense, but it also has nothing to do with evolution, the big bang, religion or anything. It is just a retarded hypothesis for the creation of a canyon, when a perfectly logical explanation already exists. As far as I can understand, he doesn't believe that water can erode a canyon.

Why the quotes on the word "god" anyways? And "god" should be capitalized, just to point out. |
