Wow that's some crazy intellectual shit there Synth. I knew most of it except for the training the memory thing, that's new to me. But Im too lazy to keep a journal diary thingy.

But seriously do continue..interesting....

one time i fell asleap with the lava lamp on, and i was staring at it right before i went to sleep. then i had a dream, i will tell you my dream, even though it is pointless.

i decide to take my lava lamp to school to show all my classes (for some reason) i get to my LA class and sit through it. at the end i use my lava lamp to telport to science, and it was lava lamp day at my science class, and our teacher was giving them away. They all looked exactly like mine, and he gave them away to everyone. then after the bell rings i telport to the A hall ( using my lava lamp) and the A hall is all of a sudden 1 feet high, so i have to crawl to get through. Then i woke up. Pretty stupid ayy?

Yeah, the journal is a good idea. But I have only done it once (it gets tiring even after the first entry.) Are you sure dreams last 5-10 minutes? Because about two nights ago, I remembered almost everything in my dream and it seemed to be about 15 minutes long. I think the reason why I remembered so much was because I gained lucidity for about 3 minutes (during which I took note of how incredibly life-like it was - which helped become even more lucid.)

PS: what IS an oobe? I'll do some heavy research and googling seeing as Synthlight isn't online anymore.

I went onto google and searched "oobe."
I think Synthlight must have made a typo, and meant to write "obe" because all of the entries I got were "obe"s, as in "out-of-body experience."
But I could be wrong.

Was not a typo. OOBE - Out Of Box Experience - or Out Of Body Experience. Some sort of altered state of consciousness (sp?). When I get more info (soon) I'll make an edit to this one, and make it two as long.

You dream on average about 5-10 more times per night than you remember. Even if you don't remember any sort of dreaming, you are a still dreaming. So the bottom line is that you are dreaming the same amount each night regardless of what you remember.

So how to remember the dreams we already have and influence or control them? No matter what you do, you must be prepared to have patience. This is not something you can accomplish in one night.

Your dreams mimic real life. Think of them as a liquid life with a touch of imagination. Dreams are many times related to current events in your life so the first thing you can do is think about dreaming, alot.. Think about dreams you would like to have. Think to yourself that you know you will dream and remember the dream tonight. Take this even one step further.. Write the letter D on the palm of your hand. Look at it multiple times throughout the day and ask yourself "Am I dreaming?" and then give yourself and answer and tell yourself why that answer is correct. This will eventually lead to lucid dreaming which is where I think you are eventually headed if I have the right impression of you.

Don't forget to keep a journal next to your bed. Every morning when you wake up.. FIRST THING you do is write down anything you can remember about your dreams.. doesn't matter what it is. This will aid you in remember your dreams because you are training your memory.

Just remember to keep with it. I could go on forever about this subject, lucid dreaming and oobe's. That stuff is for another post though.

Cheers,

Synthlight
Everything you have just said I read in some book my friend had. Did you happen to read the same book?

Anyways, you can eventually teach yourself how to control your actions in a dream.

There. Out of body experience. It's friggin' creepy and I'm too scared to try it.

[EDIT: after much googling, I have this question. ........That means an OOBE is basically a lucid dream, right?]

Oh my God, that's scary....

I don't think it's a lucid dream. I think it really IS an out of body experience.

*ahem* Possessed much?

I've been trying to have a lucid dream. They usually just happen when I somehow remember what 'lucid dream' means. It's mostly a spontaneous thing.

Here's a little tip: lucid dreams are more likely to occur during afternoon naps.

I note that myself. Another trick for lucid dreaming is to sleep out a natural sleep cycle - that is, don't set your alarm and don't let anyone wake you up. And when you wake up naturally as morning comes, don't get out of bed. Just fall back asleep.

It's like tripping, I swear. You never know where your subconscious will take you next. It's marvellous.

Yeah, that works great when you don't have school. Works good for the rest of this week and during the upcoming weekends.
