If you're switching from 1 hand to two hands I have a tip.
*use half and half thats what i call using half keypad half arrows. Example: right hand middle finger on 8 ring finger on 6. left hand ring finger on left arrow, index finger on down arrow. mid. f.= 8 ring f.= 6 ring f.= <- index f.= down arrow when you can do good with this just move the num pad fingers to the arrow keys and you won't be mixed up. I hope this helps!! -Dylan-

That would be considered a good spread setup for FFR.

Yes.
It seems like most people who start out playing one-hand on FFR never try other styles because they don't want to put in the effort, though.

I agree most people don't want to change, but some do because they want to become quicker and better at jumps or they can't move they're fingers fast enough. This thread is just a good suggestion for people who want to become 2 handers. Even though i use all arrow keys 2 handed i can still do that spread almost as good.
Thanks for all opinions! -Dylan-

Use your pointer and middle fingers rather than middle and ring. They can move faster.

You can use you're index and middle fingers also. I use the ring and middle fingers. Either will work.
Thanks St. lunatic. -Dylan-

His point is that if you want to do really fast stuff, index/middle works a lot better than middle/ring. Try doing well on, say, Caprice middle/ring.

I used to use all arrows, then a couple weeks ago I started doing that. I gradually switched to spread on numpad, and am doing pretty well with it..

Here's a tip from what I've learned over the past few days: Look at trying to read old patterns that you couldn't read previously after starting a new style.

I used to play spread on stepmania like 2 years ago but i play ffr 3 fingered on the arrows and spread on the arrow/num. key setup for certain songs.
I guess its always good to be able to do both. |

Dude your idea has moved me from 1 hand to two and im already some what confident with two hands after my second day.
I used the two hand aproach where you use both the arrows and the numbered keypad but now i just use the num pad. Maybe also suggest using your index and middle as an alerantive to your ring and middle. PLZ rewrite this out really well and go for a sticky!! Good Job!

Oh noes my secret has been found
How many people have been doing it this way? I like the half arrow/keyapd because my keyboard doesn't like to register certain combinations of arrows in quick succession. |

its not that i want to be a 2 hander, its just one handing songs has gotten easy,( although some songs are difficult for my eyes to keep up with, Ex. Reality R2)it seems fun to be a 2 hander, but that makes it easier doesn't it? i always thought it looked easier w/ 2 hands( is it just me)

I dont have a number pad. I'm one handed and I am switching to two. I'm just using both hands on the arrow keys.

There are so many ways, just keep testing them out and see what you like.
As for my style I call it an indexed spread, since I use the spread technique on the arrow keys, but regularly move my fingers out of place, and I sometimes use one finger from each then change up to two. It's difficult to explain, but i'm sure you get what i'm trying to say. I don't see many people do this, but that is probably an advantage of having small hands. |
