Is DDR a real sport? Just trying to find an opinion on this.
Things to Consider: 1) Chess and Bowling are a sport and so is Pool. 2) Believe it or not, DDR is quite small...I mean the # of people who play it. Do you think this is true?

DDR belongs in the E-sport category
It might become an offical sport later in the future though, it's not really impossible for that to happen. |

They should show DDR tourneys on ESPN6.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

I still consider it a game because thinking of it as a sport sounds silly to me right now, but it wouldn't surprise me if it reached a 'sport' status at some point.

I heard somewhere that it already is a sport in some Scandanavian country.
Is this correct?

I guess so, but I want it to become an OFFICIAL sport. It would be cool if we can see it on ESPN.....sweet.

I think we should do something, if all the people from these forums can make something about it, you might get DDR as an official sport someday.

If DDR becomes a sport, what about ITG? Would DDR be like the minor leagues?
EDIT: And how about statistics like they do in all the regular sports. Like DP% and EGA (earned great average).

Some people just don't realize. DDR was originally in Japan. It will never become a sport because 80% of america doesn't even know what Japan is much less knowing what DDR is. 10% of the rest knows at least a little bit about Japan, 7% likes the recreation like anime, DDR and other stuff, 2.99% is like Japanesses Americans without having a Japanesse ancestory, and the last .01% is that one individual in America that is like, he is Japan in America.
Long story short, people are more into rap and more american culture than Japanesse. |
