As some of you guys know, I took the LSAT a few weeks ago (the LSAT is a rather demanding test that one has to take when applying to law school). The highest possible score on this test is a 180, and the lowest is a 120.
I got a 173, which, due to the bell shaped distribution of scores on this test, places me in the 99th percentile. I was actually hoping for a bit better score (175+), but I can't exactly complain about getting in the 99th percentile. This, combined with the superb grades and solid letters of recommendation I got last quarter, will allow me to waltz into UW Law. Man, I haven't felt this good about my academic progress in a long, long time.

Is there even a such thing as getting in the 100th percentile?
I think not. You should be perfectly happy with 99th percentile. I know I would be.

Isn't the Harvard law school the best law school? I dunno. If you're that good, you should just go there. Plus you can be close to Kilga 8)

ahahahahahaha like I could get into Harvard. My grades would need to be significantly higher, and I would need some sort of outstanding leadership position or something to get into any ivy league law school. Keep in mind that law programs are significantly more difficult to get into than undergraduate programs, since they are far smaller in size.
If I really want to go to a top school though, then I should probably go to Michigan State. They have a top five law program, and I could get in there without too much trouble. I'll probably just go to the UW though, since I love it up here in the Pacific Northwest, and while the UW law program isn't top five material, it is top twenty or twentyfive, which is good enough. It would also make it easier for me to get a job at a big firm in the Seattle area, which would be very nice.

MSU is a pretty good school. I live about three hours away from there, and I've heard lots of good things about it. Also, a lot of my friends go there. Of course, Michigan isn't one of the best states out there. :<

ProTip: Lawyers generally don't work for free, with a couple exceptions, such as:
A) They are working for their family. B) They are passionate about a cause, and working for it does not demand too much of their energy to prevent them from carrying out their higher priority (ie paid) duties.

I thought %iles were the other way around. Like, 99th would mean you're in the top 99% of people. I figured being in the top 1% of people would be 1st %ile. o_O

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

nope, what it means to be in the xth percentile is that if you were one of a sample of 100 people, x people would be worse than you.
i.e. if you were 0th percentile then none of the other 99 people would be worse than you, so you're the worst. If you're 99th percentile that means all the 99 other people would be worse than you, so you're the best. There is no 100th percentile because there's only 100 people including you (i.e. 99 not including you) so it goes from 0 to 99. -fs |
