Hi. I need some help.
I was over at ffrcade and firefox closed down on me than said that My profile (the default one) was in use. I made a new one thinking meh, whatever but now I realize its why all my bookmarks etc are gone. Can someone tell me how to change back to my old profile? |

I've heard of that before, where firefox removes all your bookmarks. All I can suggest is that from now on keep all your bookmarks also on I.E and then you can just export them from I.E and back into Firefox.

Ok, I've had this happen before.
Go to program files and find accounts for firefox and restore your old one. I can't quite remember how to do this, but it's in your user profile if you're using Windows XP, it's different for other Windows versions and Mac.

if it ever happens again, just ctrl alt delete, go into processes, and end the firefox process
then start firefox like normal and everything will be kosher

There might be another instance of Firefox running that wasn't killed. Make sure and kill it in your process list if there is one.

Ok. So far I've looked around in firefoxes file but can't find much. I forgot to mention that there was a window (dialougue(sp?) box-esque thing) that opened and prompted me to change cause my old one was in use. I just made a new one so thats why all my bookmarks and whatnot are gone.
Linkisdoomed I think you might have something there but i can't figure out how to restore it. Is the accounts folder in firefoxes folder because I went there and found only profiles folder(probly what you meant). Now I'm gonna search around a bit on their site see if they have a fix but thanks for any help you may have. ps I'm running windows xp office EDIT: Fixed it my self but thanks for all the help. For future refrence all I had to go was close firefox completely then go start>run> type in "firefox.exe -profilemanager" (without these " things but with the space). After that all I had to do was switch to my old one and click start firefox. Now to bookmark this page... :P Last edited by pumpkinking; 06-26-2006 at 05:06 PM.. |
