I hate this scoring system

Use this one, it's better:

For the overall score,

sqrt((2*perfects + goods - 2 * misses - boos)/(2*total arrows))

For "current score" at the bottom,

((2*perfects + goods - 2 * misses - boos)/(2*total arrows))^(1-(arrows passed/total arrows)/2)

This is much better than the ****ty scoring system currently in use where it can take as many as three perfects to make up for one combo point.

On R1 anyways. If 3rd Style keeps this system, it's going to be mass flaming for months to come.

Personally, I like the combo based scoring.

It gives FFR personality.

The only real problem is the possibility of mashing. And really, if it's that much of a problem (which it really isn't), they could add some code that will cancel all input if it receives a certain amount of boos per a certain amount of time.

Why would you want a score to be square rooted anyways? That would mean that the fastest way to get points would be to play like the first 30 seconds of a song, fail, and repeat. Long songs like Max Forever would be giving very few points compared to how long they take, because you would have to get 4x as many perfects to get 2x the points. I'd like a scoring system more like:
Perfect:550
Good:275
Average:55
Miss:-310
Boo:-20
Combo:0

Not that I think it will change, either.

This topic is mostly here because I don't have Stepmania on this computer and that is almost SM's scoring system.

@doug, go back to PMS

oh yeah, and the reason it's square rooted is because I want to see you get a decent score without square rooting. Go play a game of stepmania, divide the score by 100000000, square it, then multiply it back by 100000000. Tell me if you like the results.
