My current phone is pretty much broken to the point of being unusable, so I need a new one. Here are the requirements:
- It needs to be usable with T-Mobile service - No, I will NOT switch to another carrier - It should preferably be a flip phone - Small size is a plus - It should have a camera, preferably capable of taking images of over one megapixel I'm currently looking at these two phones: Motorola PEBL U6: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=685 Samsung SGH-T609: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=900 The PEBL is has a look and form factor that I find more attractive, but is stuck with a VGA resolution camera. The SGH has boasts a 1.3 megapixel camera, which I would probably use fairly often, and mp3 playing capabilities (with a flash memory slot), which I may or may not actually use (I have no plans to buy an mp3 player in the near future, but wouldn't mind having the option). However, the SGH is a bit bigger and kind of ugly. Both phones will run me near $250 to get unlocked off of Ebay, which is pretty much my top limit as far as price goes. So tell me which phone I should choose and why. Or, alternatively, propose a different phone that meets the requirements that I have laid above.

Nah, I don't feel like getting a RAZR, although I have looked at it a bit. It has a crappy camera, and if I am going to go for a cell phone with a VGA camera then I will just pick up the PEBL.
EDIT: Hmm, it seems that the RAZR V3i fixes this issue. It is just a tiny bit more than I was intending to spend, but I will have to take a close look at it. It is still a bit wider than I would like (width, not thickness) though.

Samsung. I've had 2 now, love them. They are small, compact, durable. AND all Samsung phones have the same charger.

I have Cingular, and I recently broke my phone and have to get a new one too.
Both Razor versions cost $100, so I guess I'll just be getting that. EDIT: I would get the Motorola PEBL U6 out of the two you are currently looking at. I think it looks much better.

I recently got a Nokia for $20. Too lazy to find out what it's called but it's all black plastic with silver plastic around it. No special features like camera or anything, just talking.

T-mobile won't give you an upgrade thingy? Or is your plan not close enough to renewal for that?
This is what I have, and I loves it, and it is cheap. http://t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/Deta...9-e9a913ed4b9e

Whorli, that phone is incredibly tempting, as it is a good $100 cheaper than the T609. and the only notable feature that it lacks is a 1.3 megapixel camera (it instead has a VGA camera). Although I really would like the larger resolution, I dunno if I am willing to spend $100 for it.
And the contract extension rebates that I can get really aren't that great, so I haven't thought about them much. If I do decide to go that route then I will first need to get my cell phone plan transferred to sole ownership under myself (my mother opened the account for me when I was 16, and last time we tried to transfer the plan it would have required a huge deposit because I had no credit history at all). EDIT: Of course, this phone is ugly as all hell, but then again I am not buying the phone for the looks. Still, it does make me freeze for a moment whenever I take a glance at its feature set.

Ugly shmugly. You're not buying the phone for its looks, and I know you're not shallow like that
Are you really that into the camera? If so, maybe $100 is worth it. If not, get the V360 and be happy with it.

Heh, exactly what I was thinking.
However, A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED: Sony Ericcson k750i: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/...-k750-en.shtml Not a flip phone, but it has a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and other snazzy features that would actually make it a worthwhile digital camera replacement for my needs. Same price as the first two phones I mentioned too. I haven't confirmed that this works with T-Mobile service yet, but I believe that it does. I know that it doesn't support the 850 band, but I don't really think that will be much of an issue. So now it is between this and the Motorola V360 - and I think that the extra $100 will be worth it for this camera. I'll have to think about this a bit.

Oh my god its a RAZR look I am orgasming.
In case you haven't noticed, I am no longer considering the RAZR V3i. It is now between the Motorola V360 and the Sony Ericcson k750i

But but but but...
*sniff* =( EDIT: Get the Motorola one. Sexier. And not Sony. The Sony one may have some nice features, but a brick phone is still a brick phone. Flip > brick.

Oh dear, another drawback of the Ericcson that I didn't notice before - it doesn't have EDGE network support, so no high speed internet browsing :<
Decisions, decisions...

I have a Razr V2 and I hate it. So it's good that you arent considering getting a razr, because they are stupid.

I'm going to agree with Jewpin and say don't get a Razr.
Just get one of those phones for 3 year olds. |
