i've been having this coninuous problem with stepmania. I load stepmania, all my songs load and everything correctly, but when i play a song, the arrows scroll is really choppy, and after about 10-15 seconds into a song, the arrows freeze, and my computer fully shuts down and reboots. I have tried re-installing stepmania, and it has not helped, i have defragged my comp, nortan virus check, and everything is fine, it's getting really frustrating now because i haven't played in days. If anyoine can help..maybe a suggestion of what the problem could be..would be really appreciated...thx

Well, it may either be two things.
One, you may have programs running in the background that's slowing down SM. Try doing a spyware scan, and try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the program manager and exit anything that you don't need. You may have to turn off your firewall if you have one. Two, your computer may not have the required components needed to run SM. Try getting an updated video card, different computer, etc., anything that you would think would help run SM better. |

up until i had to reformat my comp it was working fine, i mean my computer is pretty good, and has even more than the required components to run SM. I have tried closing everything but that didn't seem to really do anything, i just haven't closed the firewall for..obvious reasons, but i'll try again i guess.

You reformatted your comp? Then the reformatting may have messed up SM. Why not try redownloading SM? You can always backup your sims and stuff.

man this thread is funny
Yeah dude I have SM on three computers and have had trouble with all three First if you are using a laptop then you most likly will need to get more memory OR if your using lots of animation thingys then video card is the way to go If your on your normal computer maybe the downloading site is just being realy gay atm and will be fixed |

On my less awesome comp it cant run fullscreen at 800x600 pixels, so i set it to Fullscreen stretch at 320 pixels and it runs like a dream. Maybe that will help with the choopyness, it did for me.
