I think that noobs should be welcomed to the forum insted of some poeple raging on them and saying stuff like "go away noob" and thinking that they don't know what noobs are talking about cause they don't have 798 posts or something like that.

Hey Cocap its not about how many posts you have, it is about the way you act, and how long you have been on the site. But yeah still, they make people feel unwelcome and unwanted. They scare the poor n00blets away from the site.

Rather, even though I've not posted ever, I'd just like to point out that noobs-- as annoying as they may be -- generally do not take the time to know the history of the existing members and at least have common respect for the older members, which are more commonly referred to as "Veterans"; back to the point, newbs are still welcomed to the message board, but it's disrespectful to Veterans of the board for newbies to not even attempt to understand the history of the people they want to interact with, no?

newb- a new person to the site most of the time not the most knowledgeable to the site/game

n00b - person, not always new, that decides that they are superior to the veterans of the site. usually followed by veterans flaming them to submission. n00bs usually have low post counts although that is not always the case (see yoshimaro

)

veterans - the well known, respectable members of a site. usually have high post counts although not always the case.

you see if ur gonna be a n00b ur gonna be flamed. no one likes the guy that thinks they're better when they're not

take for instance mwerp and the thunderclaw in this thread.

at one point one or the other are acting like noobs

now a newb isn't all that bad. everyones a newb at one point and not a n00b.

please try not to get them mixed up.

Generally, those definitions are the definitions that I abide by, but different boards have different rules and different sets of titles. And then again there are the people that call other people n00bs just because they want to get them riled up.

Different boards = different standards. Different standards = Me being on the archaic side.

I agree that there is a difference between a newb and a n00b, although my defenitions differ.

Newb is simply someone new to somewhere. Simple enough really.

n00b is a mindset. One must act like a total ignorant moron at all times. n00bs frequently ignore another's arguements on the base that that person is "stoopid" and yet can never come up with any solid facts. "IOMG U DUM@$$ lolololololorz"
