Life By Numbers
I’ve discovered that some events in life can be figured out loosely by using a basic algebraic equation. Right now I’ve only figured out how it would work with things in sets of three. For instance: A+B=1 B-C=1 If you have Subject A, B and C; place them in a situation where only two can coexist and not coexist if a third variable is added. Take a scenario where two people are hanging out and things progress fine (A+B) and the end result is appositive one (=1). Add a third person and that third person becomes a divider for person A and B (C=A/B). To end up with a positive result on both fronts a sacrifice must be made (B-C=1) A+B=1 B-C=1 B+C=0 (used to simply illustrate that B and C getting together are not a desired result) Where A,B and C are people and the numbers 1 and 0 are the equivalent to binary switches of OFF and ON, but greater value being ON rather than closed. If you are any good at algebra you have this: A=-C B=C+1 In relation to a situation, the answer reveals what I suspect will happen. Person B plays between Person A and C (B=C+1), resulting in a loss of trust and possibly overall friendship between Person A and C (A=-C). To make this analogy more pliable, we’ll say that all three people are friends. However this is only one possible scenario. There are other variables at play such as temperament and time allotments. Adding these other variables changes your answer, which is why it only loosely applies. It also requires all parties involved with eh above hypothetical scenario to be honest with themselves and how they felt. My overall point about life relating to math is this: Most anyone who is in this situation, would have undue strain on the relational values of the subjects. It has caused me to wonder if maybe other events in life could be foreseen through a simple equation. Are we really all just a living machine or because we have other human traits like empathy and compassion that alter our internal mathematical constants? I guess my underlying point is that math really is a universal language. Everyday we use math, for making change, getting gas, driving to work, setting your alarm…and evidentially applying it to predictive social events. My only concern with using this predictive measure is that you can find your answer in everything if you look too hard, even when the answer is not really there. There is still something to be said about intuition and emotional reasoning as well. |

Math has no inherent meaning, the only meaning from it comes from that which we derive. You are only working the process in the other direction.

RE: Life By Numbers
i was just agreeing with him without directly saying it, plus i gave you a philosopher to read about.
