This pisses me off.

Reason why?

There are a lot of people that will be scrambling to try and get their hands on one before Christmas. By buying even one, that's a kid who isn't going to get what he wanted for Christmas.

After working in a retail store where I get 100 calls a day telling people they already won't be able to get one, this PISSES ME THE HELL OFF. If they came to whatever store I was at and I knew what they planned, I wouldn't sell it to them because I wouldn't need their money. I know it'd get sold.

I would setup a site like that for a scam. I would get people to donate then just take the money. Or even set it up with a friend of mine to give me a false xbox just so I could smash the shit out of it so people would keep donating to me so I could get rich. Too bad they are doing it forreal with a 360. Btw, if I was in line and I saw that I would knock that guy out. Then steal his 360, pick up my 360, take them both home, and sell one on ebay.

Symbolism. The smashing implement is sony and nintendo

Obviousity: the xbox will eventually lose, to only be used as a defferment of rage, they're just premptiving it.
noobdom: they don't know how a to work such a crappy system
spitting in the faces of those less fortunate: they have enough money to buy an xbox and a ps3, and enough common sense to use each in their correct ways
and finally
intelligence and profit mindedness: people like destruction, they like it so much, they know that people will pay to see it. 430 in donations? the core system is coming out for 299 right? that's $130 in profit. not the best way to make money, but it's still making money.

We Canadians get screwed big time, especially now that the exchange rate between USD and Cad $ is crap, but the retailers still charge $100 more for each system. Futureshop sells the bare bones system for $399.99 Cnd $ ($460 including tax), which is around $390 USD. The extra money goes to cover the paypal fees.

I think this is awesome. . .imagine what the people in line will do when they see this. Hope this kid brings some bodyguards.

You guys realize he could just take off the case of the 360, fill it with a bunch of computer junk and smash it therefor leaving him with a naked 360 which he could get a pimped out mod for.

He's gonna tape it. I didn't see the Smash My iPod thing, so I'm not sure, but I think the logical thing to do would video tape him buying it, show him walk out of the store and be near the line and smash it, so it's proof to everybody, especially those in line, what he's doing.

But that would be illegal. What he is doing is perfectly legal, which makes it awesome. You're an idiot. Who are you to determine how a customer wishes to use a product that he has legitimately purchased? You are not the owner of the store, it is not up to your discretion to choose to accept or refuse someone's money. Furthermore, how are you to say that they will not get more value and enjoyment out of breaking their x-box 360 than a kid who gets it for christmas and never plays it.
