I think a better title for this thread would be, "what are your life goals and ambitions?" Still, I understand the question. What do I want to be when I grow up? At one time I wanted to be an archeologist. This was when I was 12 years old. Soon, that notion was dismissed and I decided that I wanted to be a chef and own my own restaurant. After awhile, I realized it wasn't what I wanted either. Then, I decided that I wanted to be a CIA agent. This is what led me to the military. After being in the military for almost 2 years now, I've realized that this goal would not suffice either. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted. What could I do in this world? Something that would make me happy, something that would be productive. After all of this time I've decided that I want to be a college professor. To reach out to the minds of today's youth. To teach life lessons, change lives for the better, and force people to think. Society today is stuck in the grooves of what they're told to do. We don't need drones, we need thinkers and ambitious creators. From grade school on you're groomed to become a "good" member of society, I think some ways need changing.
To sum it up: history, culture, philosophy professor.

I'm trying to get into dentistry.
Assuming I change my mind, or can't get in (oh hell no) then...probably a physicist ...o_O XD Physics is easily the most interesting science, and its always been my favorite. Up to this point anyway. I'm enjoying the physics I'm doing now. Something to do with computers, writing, teaching or animals would be nice too.

I know they only accept 32 students here, I have no idea about there...but that means...it's retardedly hard to get in. Even with my stupidly high average right now, it won't be easy getting in. I guess I could go somewhere else for dentistry, but its expensive and more difficult.

When I grow up a Racecar Passanger. Just the guy who bugs the driver.
"Say man, can I turn on the radio?" "You should slow down." "Why do we have to keep going in circles?" "Man, you really like tide." |

Spec: Reach out to their minds before College. Awesome high school teachers FTW.
P.S. Okay. I'm making a schedule for my senior year of High School. I'd have 2 electives, but I already know I'm taking my 2nd year of Cisco Networking, so I only have one elective. Right now, I'm torn between these two: Pre-Engineering This course uses the Infinity Project curriculum to help students apply mathematical and scientific concepts to real-life problems. Students explore, create design and experiment in engineering areas that include: the internet, cell phones, digital video, movie special effects, electronic music and various digital technologies. Media Technology 1 This course is designed to provide job-specific training for entry-level employment in movie, audio, radio, and television production careers. Instruction includes operation of different types of cameras, mastery of audio techniques, electronic editing, creation of television graphics, lighting, script writing, direction, production, special effects, signal control and monitoring equipment, set design, entrepreneurship, safety, leadership training, opportunities for post-secondary study, and career opportunities. I'm REALLY torn between them. On one hand, Pre-Engineering sounds really cool because working on stuff like cell phones and digital video and electronic music appeals to me and sounds like it would let me get a taste of everything, to see what I like and I don't like. On the other hand, in Media Technology, I'm really interested in the audio mastering, electronic editing, production and direction. And the leadership soudns good too. |

EDIT: Goddamnit, Mal. EDIT 2: Right now I'm going through college with teaching math in mind. However I'm not going to be in the field for long - once a couple of my friends that are each at least one year behind me finish college we're going to all do the JET program together and dick around Japan for a few years. Depending on what happens once that's all done, I'll either stay here and teach math - Massachusetts is pissing itself looking for math and science teachers these days and will be for several years to come - or I might return to Japan permanently and see what I can eke out over there. Former is more likely but I'd rather see the latter play out.

I have wanted to make video games since I was old enough to play them and realize that I had cooler ideas. I wrote all those awesome great ideas down in notebooks, too. Of course, now I look back and I realize that all my ideas were just Mario and Doom clones
. OH WAIT, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE REAL GAME INDUSTRY DOES!! So basically I've been perfect for lead design guy for games since I was 5! YAY!But seriously, I wanna learn programming and have my own little company (and when I say little, I mean REALLY TINY). It'll basically just be some games released online here and there with a donate button on the website if you wanna be so kind. As soon as I learn some programming languages and am able to I will slowly start pumping out little games and eventually get webhosting and make you guys all play them. But I plan to eventually get better and move from crappy webgames to downloadable .exe games that get better and better as I learn more. Basically, my little company's site and will help boost my resume so that I can maybe get hired at a game company (Epic games has their central office in Raleigh, and I would love to work for them ). Also, alot of the games I make will be in the same basic storyline, and I have this grand idea that would take a major company to do, and I plan to sell the idea to the company once I get part of the idea working by myself. But um, I'll need people for my tiny little company. If it's just me, you'll be piloting the SS Triangle against the horrible Box Army with their devastating Rectangle Missiles and Circle Bombs, all while listening to a really bad 30 second loop of shitty techno music! It'll be an awesome game, but it'll look and sound like crap if I can't recruit people to help out. o___O

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |
