Welcome to the Nomination stage for the FFR Hall of Fame - Class of 2025! (yes, we're skipping a year, don't worry about it)
FFR is a game with a very long history, and that history includes so many individuals who deserve to be remembered for their contributions to that history. Whether it be the players who continually pushed the boundaries of what we thought capable, or the members who strove to make the community the best it could be, this is our way to acknowledging, and remembering, those people. What we ask of you is to nominate up to 3 people in 2 categories: Player, and Contributor. - Players are what it says on the tin. People who have dedicated a lot of time and effort into the game, whether it be via several thousand games played, incredible scores, or even pushing the boundaries. - Contributors are those who have dedicated their time and effort into the community. Former/current staff, key users, really anyone who has left a positive mark on the game, or the site. There are a handful of guidelines to follow: 1.) A nominee must have qualified for Veteran status via time. 3 years of time, minimum. 2.) You MUST nominate at least one player and contributor. 3.) No meme/joke entries. They will be immediately, and fully, nulled and voided. Nominations can be made here: We encourage people to look within the history of FFR when coming up with their selections. The FFR wiki is a good source, as well as the forums. Finally, these users are already enshrined in the Hall, and any nomination for them will not count. Vote for jimerax
-One of FFR's first simfile judges, from at least 2007, possibly earlier - 2014ish -Significant portion of time in roles we now separate in to site admin, mod staff, game manager, head judge, wiki staff, ... -One of the largest early sources of artist permissions, especially from Japanese artists. -Charted or collaborated on 67 FFR files And I'm sure I'm still selling jx short on his contributions to this game in it's earlier days. His efforts still resonate here today. Last edited by Tru; 02-1-2025 at 05:29 PM.. |

Very Grave Indeed

Here to advocate for Contributor nominations/votes for TheSaxRunner05 and thesunfan.
We often think in terms of the FFR event managers, and moderators etc. for this category, and while a lot of the major events are run by those formally on-the-staff users, some things were done purely for the love of the thing. TheSaxRunner05 was the primary non-staff force behind the FFR Trading Card Game, which has come and gone in terms of activity, but at its highpoints was inarguably the best secondary goal system to keep people playing actively that has ever existed on this site. It's a huge amount of work on his end, and he kept it going for years and absolutely deserves to have that work recognized. Likewise, thesunfan, while not the originator of The Werewolf Game's presence on FFR, has been one of its most long-term and stalwart advocates. FFR has enough of a reputation in the TWG/Mafia community that every year we're invited to send a user to the championships, an event almost entirely made up of dedicated Mafia/Werewolf forums where that's the only thing they do. That FFR can generate good enough players to go there and do well every year is the result of constant effort and labour. With so many users almost never going onto the forums, or at least not really exploring it, I think they could both go overlooked in the modern Discord-only era, so here's me going "These guys are great, and did some really great things for the community". |

I'm told this is a better piece of advocacy for thesunfan than the bit I already posted, so here you go!

I was writing a long post about what devonin said and then I closed the tab accidentally rip.
anyways I am honored to even be mentioned by someone in a non-trolling context. I will just say a few things that hopefully I won't accidentally delete. TWG on FFR does very well when it comes to the completely subjective task of determining who the better players amongst a larger group of players are. I think that the community that was built here (certainly not solely because of me, TWG on FFR owes a mountain of debt to chardish, to DarkManticoreX2 and even to Tasselfoot if we are talking about previous "leaders" EDIT: I put leaders in quotes because of something that I will discuss later concerning the TWG council) plays the game very well, and if I can be a bit forthcoming, I do think I helped contribute to that in at least some way, and I am happy with that. The fact that FFR gets invited to the Mafia championships is not unique or particularly noteworthy; the fact that we do so well in them is what is noteworthy. Every year, more and more sites are invited and we still are statistically the best forum in the championships, outpacing forums and communities that are dedicated entirely to Mafia or other limited information games. I did represent FFR myself, and I am happy with how I did, though if I can wax, winning that was one of the few lofty goals I have ever set for myself, and I did not achieve it. I am one of many people who has represented FFR and done well. For all of the other people (foremost is FictionJunction, who represented FFR before I was even a moderator for TWG), their accomplishments are entirely their own and I cannot claim any part of that. ---------------------------------------------------- I do think that I put in a lot of work into recruiting people for games, into making setups, into reviewing other people's setups, into actually playing and hosting (or cohosting) games, but in large part, without the community itself, none of that would've been possible, and there are too many people who have contributed in ways that frankly they probably vastly underestimate. I am absolutely not the only person who recruited people, who made setups, who hosted or cohosted setups, who played the games, who represented FFR on other forums. There are too many names to name, truthfully, and I'm sure there are many people who would not think that I am talking about them, but I am. I am often strongly moved when I remember a particularly passionate moment in a game, and I truly think that even if I have dementia when I'm 80, whoever is taking care of me will have to listen to the stupid story that I will probably have already told dozens of times of Charu not killing going into a f4 by banking that raeko would save him, forcing yoshl and I to thunderdome in an unwinnable battle. ---------------------------------------------------- devonin's post kind of reminded me of something that I haven't thought about in a while that I was very, very grateful for when I was a lot more involved with FFR. The staff on a lot of sites that are not dedicated to Werewolf/Mafia often seem to have a kind of disdain for the game and the people who play it. It would be a bit hard to explain without personal anecdotes, but it is incredibly frustrating to see, and it was really a blessing that I never felt that with FFR. Prawnskunk was especially forthcoming with asking if things were going well, and I am very appreciative of that. ---------------------------------------------------- All in all, it would be a very grave (indeed) mistake to attribute TWG's success in the Mafia championships solely to me, and while I deserve some credit for it, there are simply too many other people who deserve relatively similarly sized slices of the pie there. I did help build this community, but again, it would be a similarly-sized mistake to attribute this entirely to me. Furthermore, whenever possible, TWG has had a council, rather than a single leader, which has been immensely helpful and again, there are too many names to name. Additionally, I've lost my passion for limited-information games over the past few years. I have 0 regrets (I got a freaking spouse out of this), and I still have love for the community, I just don't have the drive I once did.
