The game's charts aren't synced right, the editor to make content is AWFUL, content from Etterna has been stolen for osu, the community is bad, and the mechanics of the ranking system are just absurdly bad.

I will continue saying this, but generalizing an entire large fandom is a dick move and isn't accurate at all. The sonic fandom gets alot of shit but it is one of the best fandoms I've been in

I wouldn't necessary call it a fight because that would require one of us to be somewhat upset.

Obviously people have to still be enjoying osu because it's one of the most heavily played rhythm games out there and has been around for quite some time. I think it's good for OP to form their own opinion over time and make that judgement for themselves.

Generalizing things is a great way to overview if something is worth any amount of time to find what's actually good about it. If it's not clear - my stance is osu has literally zero redeeming qualities. So yes, I'm gonna shit on it every single time someone asks about it in a public thread. Also, if we stuck to your "only when someone else does" hi, I'm Kaho, I'm the guy who gets that ball rolling.

Well lets see....

I think the audience kind of speaks for itself. Obviously there has to be something good about the game if it's going to hold the fanbase that it has for years. If you believe the game is terrible, that's fine. You're allowed to have your own opinion on whatever topic/game/subject that you want; however, since you're infamously known to be a pessimistic person, by default, your opinions are usually not credible for newer players. Players like you (there are other types too) are what makes a rhythm game community toxic.

Just because you're not getting the quality of life that you want, don't spread that toxicity onto newer players who are genuinely trying to learn and getting a feel for a game that they are interested in. It's not OPs fault that your life sucks.

Every file on immense one fuck up you fail life drain is shit. Doubling the BPM for files for no reason is shit.

I could earnestly go for a long time. The short hand is, the game is just not an experience I'd think a lot of people could earnestly describe as "good." The game doesn't respect the players, or the people who make content for it. THAT'S my fucking issue with the game.

Thanks for explaining that. I didn't really get the game when I first tried it out, and I understood far less about what makes a rhythm game good and fun than I do now. I thought it looked interesting back then but I honestly just gravitated more to StepMania and Etterna or whatever anyway so idk.

It's not your fault the thread turned the way out that it did. I just didn't want someone's negative opinion deter you away from trying it out and learning to love the game.

Also, most opinions from this community regarding osu will revolve around mania since this is a 4k rhythm game website. There aren't a ton of standard players around here to my knowledge, but enough to have a good opinion.

That makes sense, thanks. I only started playing osu!mania back then because there were a lot of fun 4k songs I couldn't find for StepMania. (mostly Green Day stuff lmao)

But I'll take FFR over osu!mania anyday. As for standard, it looked like a fun challenge.

Both are great games - I started with FFR, and then slowly transitioned into other things. Osumania has its flaws but personally I do enjoy a wide variety of songs to choose from with osu direct.
