Cosigning this post. If you're willing to go back to Black and White, there's some gems to be had. Vincent Prince's The Last Man on Earth is based off the same book as I Am Legend was and worth the watch, and the OG Godzilla movie carries a very different and darker tone then the rest of the series. You probably seen Dirty Dozen if you're into war movies but I'll toss that in here as well. Last edited by MixMasterLar; 01-1-2020 at 01:03 PM.. |

![]() idk, man, The Zero Theorem.
Directed by Terry Gilliam, it has Christoph Waltz as the main character, plus Tilda Swinton, Gwendoline Christie, Matt Damon, and David Thewlis. Shit gets on my feels like a knife. Last edited by Shikari; 01-2-2020 at 02:54 PM.. |

![]() Some mainstream options in case you haven't seen them:
The "Divergent" series, "The Maze Runner" series, and "The Giver" are interesting takes on dystopia (where it is made to look at first like a utopia [sans Maze Runner], but ends up being dystopic) that are more focused on storytelling and aim to instill a sense of empathy in the watcher. Maybe not up your alley since it's certainly not city in ruin, obvious post-apocalyptic from the onset, but I think the each one has its own brand of dystopia.

I didn't know the giver had a movie, hmm, interesting... I fuckin love dystopian themes though (in novels at least), in highschool we had to do a presentation on an author and I chose Ray Bradbury which is probably what started my interest in it, I might check that out

I went into The Giver with no expectations, and it ended up being a very pleasant surprise. I second this recc.
