Default I made a pwetty picture.

Before

After

Are there any other photo enhancing tricks I should know about? I just used the pretty basic hard light layers with some blurring, burning, light effects, and saturation.

Let's roll in a barrel through the bloody waterfall.
Yes, it's a pwetty picture.

Enhancing the living hell out of the red/orange hues only really made it look fake.

Use some brushing?
Btw that image has been manip'd 489320121 times.
It depends, what are you going for when you manip it.
You can make like a really cool rainbow effect, I'll post it later. Of course it looks unrealistic, but it looks nice, not just a rainbow gradient overlay
By the way, to add some lighting effects use white->black gradient with overlay, which will add some lighting.

You should try using color balance layers too, to enhance the colors. like use color balance layers to make the water bluer, and stuff like that.

And make sure you mess wit the hue/saturation, because you don't want your colors too bright.

Alrighty, thanks for the advice.

And yeah I was sorta going for unrealistic. I even considered using Poster Edges, but decided not to.

It honestly looks like a scene from a cinematic in some random game.

It just looks like you saturated the hell out of it.

It makes me think of a nuclear holocaust, which isnt good.

That doesnt mean the picture is bad, your approach just wasnt the greatest.

PS. Not enough Lens flare.
