So anyway, i'm playing Stepmania and my mom walks in. She looks at me and says.
"How long have you been playing that" And I go "A while" And then she says "You know that's bad for you. You could get Carpal Tunnel" So I look at her and say "Yea...right" And she responds "Okay. Go look it up then" TO GOOGLE! So, I find this. http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/c...pal_tunnel.htm FFR kills your palms?

Yea, I suppose it can give you Carpel.
Especially one-handers. Unless your jacked. From....lifting weights. |

FFR has no worse of an effect on your hand/wrist as typing.

It might be a little worse. It's more fatiguing. But really, does this come as a sort of surprise to any of you?

"A 2001 study by the Mayo Clinic found heavy computer use (up to 7 hours a day) did not increase a person's risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome."
Tell your mom she is pulling shit out of her ass to make you use the computer less.

To be fair, OML[a] and stuff of the sort is a wee bit more intense than "heavy computer use." We're talking about comparing a leisurely jog to trying to finish a marathon in under an hour.

Carpal Tunnel is more of a type of strain that certain people are affected by or not. Of course, that is because I could spend no time, or 80 hours a week on a computer, and it would make no difference for me. I don't do anything straining. Someone who does something straining, will be more affected by it.

Does the article mention anything about Masturbation? Cause, I'd be more worried about that affecting my wrists than all the typing I do.

I have been typing thousands of words a day for nearly 20 years.. no CT here.. Don't forget that playing any console game should also give you CT if you think of it like that. The reality is that VERY few people get it at all.
With that being said, use your judgment and educate yourself. If you think that playing games with a keyboard is bad for you then don't do it. Cheers, Synthlight |

The subliminal message in there was this:
"You won't get CT, look at how much I typed and how awesome I am today. Moral of story: play more FFR! and buy T-Shirts and stickers!"

Let me attempt to translate it back into english for everyone: I think Larry the Cable Guy put carpol tunnel the best, "Suing cigarette companies for giving you cancer is like suing Hustler (Tass note: I'm assuming) for giving you carpol tunnel syndrome."

That's great.
Oh and I think it really depends on how you type to be affected by it. I know my dad types with his pointer fingers and his middle fingers now, and it's kind of funny to watch. He would complain that his wrists hurt. I type properly, and you all know how much i'm on the computer and most know how fast I type, and i've never had any complications. I've also fractured my left wrist...twice.

It also doesn't really affect the wrist that much. It creates a burning sensation in the palms of your hand.
