Not possible. Sites pay for click throughs to sites, not just clicks. Not to mention that AdSense has fraud watch. If they notice repetitive IPs clicking over and over again, you get a warning, and eventually banned from AdSense. So in short... for someone to sponsor this by paying per click would be completely retarded. They'd purely be losing money.

So like, if you win, it will say you are a winner or something, right? Then what? Do you have to do anything else, or will the server notify LD or Synth and then they will contact the person?

It seems to be over. Someone claims they've won. Also, if you right click and hit play, it says someone won and the contest is over.

LD, if you would. Change the topic title when the contest is over. I don't want to waste my life even more.
Even though you probably were going to do that anyway.

Did you guys NOT read my posts concerning the mathematcs of this event?
1 billion choices, we have well under 1 million clicks. Odds of getting the winning number, even assuming that the numbers DON'T repeat or have 0 chance of repeating (I don't know if this is true or not, but I'd imagine that the numbers could repeat) is like .05% aka, 1 in 2000 (for 500,000 clicks). Worse when you factor in repetition. Figure MONTHS minimum to get a winner with 1 billion choices and this rate of clicking of about 5-8 clicks per second. 10 clicks per second * 60 seconds = 600 clicks per minute 600 clicks per minute * 60 minutes = 36,000 clicks per hour (this is clearly more than we get) 36,000 clicks per minute * 24 hours = aprox 900,000 per day. so, to get 1 billion is over 1000 days. Which is about 3 years. Guess LD realized he'd NEVER have to give this game away, considering people are going to forget and get bored by this contest. Unless TPS keeps up with 10,000 clicks a day. He then might get it by the time he's 30.

And yet people still win the lottery and (unless you disagree with this) a giant meteor did crash into the Earth and kill all the dinos. I understand the average time consumption based on the probability, but there is always that "you never know" factor. Which is why I just give five or six clicks every time I go onto the page. Eh, you never know.

Tass, i've said several times, it's 100,000,000, NOT 1 billion.

LD. 9 digits... which means numbers 1 - 999,999,999. That is 1 billion buddy. For all intents and purposes.
EDIT: Meh... OK, despite LD saying multiple times it was 9 digits, after testing it by clicking a few times, it is clearly 8 digits. Which, is 1-99,999,999 or 100 million possibilities. In 2.5 days we have 510,000 clicks. or about 200,000 clicks per day. 5 days to get 1 million, 500 days to get 100 million. Figure 1-2 years to get it then.

Tass, that's also saying that the first person to click the 100 millionth time will get it. But, remember that with probability, somebody could get it on the first click (though the possibility is astronomical). Also, due to the fact that they'll be reducing digits soon, it shouldn't take too long.

It really shouldn't be much longer, last night I was getting numbers dangerously close to the winning number, that I stoped clicking for fear of winning

LD: are you saying its NOT random? If its random, getting close means nothing. As the saying goes, "Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades."
nForcer: I said above... "Figure 1-2 years to get it then."... way the range? Oh yea... PROBABILITY.

is it only 8 digit numbers? That's what, 10^7 * 9 minus 7 or 8 or something? I forget how to do probabilites.
anyway drop the digits to six or seven and eliminate however many percentage of the numbers we've got from this one at the start so that no time is lost. I think 500 000 is what? ~.5%? |

Tass, it is random, but I just found it funny that as time went on, I was getting closer.
Although, it might be fun to do a contest that we throw 100,000,000 numbers in a database, then delete them as we go, that'd ensure tottaly random 100% of the game, and no repeats.
