I'm in Mississippi now, about 90 miles east of New Orleans.. we are here stocking up supplies and such at Keesler Air Force Base, the destruction is unimaginable in town of Buloxi here. But I do have this day off, and they are providing free internet.

Hi everyone, it may seem to the people who know me on this site that I haven't been around anywhere since Katrina tore through the south, but it's for good reason. No soccer I didn't get deployed with corey but, believe me when I say I tried IN EVERY WAY possible to be down there with him and many other friends of mine who were noble enough to volunteer. Unfortunetly I was held back at our permanent duty station in Wyoming, due to manning issues on my flight and in my squadron.
Just for some FYI, I would like to share only a fraction of information available to me to allow you all to get a small understanding of how much time and dedication Corey and others have volunteered toward the relief and recovery effort. Our base is not a guard or reserve base and was (and has been for a long time) a NON-Deployable base, due to the very important resource that is present on our base. Which means of course in lamens terms, we stay on this base untill seperation from the military or untill you receive orders to another base. Due to recent events our base lifted the policy of non-deployable for this effort to make a difference, but not without a cost. Last time I heard, Corey gets a day off a week or less, and works probably 16+ hours a day, in an eviornment that probably isn't as cozy as back here on base. They were prepared for the worst when they left, and before they left they were hurried through many preparations, such as physicals, equipment issue, many briefings, equipment checks and double checks, not to mention paperwork in less that 3 days. Only then with minimal sleep did they get A DAY for themselves and to let friends and family of their situation. I for one think that deserves tribute. Corey, Wish I were your AG, right next to you. HUA! ha ha. Take care man and know that there are people waiting for your safe return (as seen before my entry).

Thanks Dennis, I appreciate it man, I can't wait to get back, I think we're looking at around at least 60 days here though.
