Look at fullerene shift, IcyX, NBJS, Skwid packs, those are all challenging stuff yet are all playable.

I have a general recommendation: diversify your knowledge in simfiles/stepping as a whole before creating a pack of your own. This means playing a variety of packs (perhaps those even beyond your general interests), submitting files to other packs, and even reviewing other people's files.
That's not to say you can't make your own pack now, but by experiencing more things, 1) you will be better informed on how to review files that are most appropriate to your pack, 2) you will better understand what sort of pack you're aiming for, *3) you might even have a greater appreciation of the types of charts and music that people have to offer, and 4) you might even develop your own stepping styles and discover your area(s) of specialty. Oh, and 5) in general your willingness to immerse into the community in greater depth may give you more credibility later on. Right now though, the harsh response from a lot of people is to be expected from what you've posted so far. I made only one pack before (and it was a solo pack) and it was a pretty huge undertaking with a ton of logistics. I seriously did not want to make another pack on my own after that. So it's my recommendation that you start by taking smaller steps and in the process, that'll be an easier way to handle things and slowly gain some credibility. *I don't hail from the osu community, so take my (uninformed?) generalization with a grain of salt, but from what I've heard, a good portion of the stepping that occurs on that site are extremely dense jumpstreams, a style that is not so widespread elsewhere. I get the impression that a lot of people from that community are used to that kind of stepping/mapping, so they stick within the confines of that stepping style. Why not try to embrace a broader variety of stepping styles? Again, this usually means taking the time to immerse yourself in other packs that are out of your area of interest. Then again, if you are only looking for difficult charts, then the pack you have in mind IS thematic and not for everyone. Last edited by bmah; 10-26-2016 at 05:48 PM.. |

obmah speaks the truth
i (also) have no experience with osu, but it's becoming increasingly apparent that any time someone comes from the osu community to release sm files, they are generally this type of dense jumpstream/rolls/jacks. the preview files here remind me a lot of xeostyle's pack that was posted sort of recently. its not a bad thing necessarily, but it's definitely becoming a self-fulfilling cliche |

The known styles i know are literally
js, dumps, speed, jacks and each of them have some set of patterns for it, which is what i see alot in stepmania compared to osu!mania most of the o!m plays SM converts instead of the ranked maps because they are generally uninteresting but that's the meta mappers at o!m follow, there are of course exceptions but that's how i see it for me i don't have any sort of charting style, i just listen to a song and decide what kind of file i'll make for it, i don't ''just'' do one kind of style but i like to follow the song /idea i have for it. |

Well ok, so you're used to js/dumps/speed/jacks, and you find other things generally uninteresting. This is where you'd need to spend some time "getting to know" other stepping styles, and enough time that you don't immediately dismiss them.
Not that you need to enjoy every style. Just hoping you'd broaden your likening, which in turn might help make your pack more successful. And yes, definitely do not think of yourself as a stepper that only steps "one style" - even though you might design one kind better than another. An open mind is always a good thing. (That's how I ended up stepping a few mine dumps in the past. Some people thought it was an interesting change; others absolutely hated it. I don't regret stepping them though.) |

hey does the lack of names on the file list imply that you are going to claim that you made all of the files regardless of who actually did

A real mystery pack would remove song name, song preview and song artist, too. And banners. And heck, BPM changed to 0 on display.
