I can pretty much guess who made those City gfx just based on the text's font alone...

Yeah, I know it was rude to go over your head like that Tsuka, but that's happened to me on every simfile pack I've made gfx for (hell, sometimes my gfx were never used). That being said, I did, at the time, thought the gfx for City were good. Probably not good for the song in question, but after spending an hour on the gfx it was driving me crazy. Maybe these gfx will do? I didn't think they'd be that better, since they just screamed "generic".

The issue is your graphic submissions have been either overly-processed (To the point where you make the pulled art somehow even worse), or just simply generic. Sometimes you have to tone it back and just focus on capturing the spirit of the song.

I don't think you're a bad graphic designer, and I don't think your intentions are bad. But you can't base the ideas for your graphics on the song name alone... These songs come from video games, they're not abstract. They can be represented faithfully! (As opposed to a song from terminal11, for example, where you can let your imagination go wild because most songs are not based on anything)

I mean... If I submitted a song called Peach Circuit, if you come up with this design, you basically screwed up

Obviously the art is bad (I'm not a graphic designer), but that's not my point. When players hear Peach Circuit, they want to see Peach's Castle in the distance, with a race track and karts, or something like that.

I usually don't. For example the gfx I did for XelNya's Ba'al Battle file. A little homework and I found that the song had to do with a couple and their time together, which is why there's a power plant (where they worked) and snow (when they met). However, since the song was for a boss fight, specifically related to the couple and how the bosses were related to them, I made the graphics look eroded and not highlight any romantic overtones at all. It's just, with the City song, I just didn't know what to do. The song didn't have much behind it, other than power rangers, something the rest of the soundtrack could lay claim to as well.
