Going to be trying out PoE soon, only ever got to around level 10 before I stopped for no reason.

Is there any real reason not to just go with a Hardcore character?

If you're just starting out chances are your first few characters won't make it past Act 1

And they 100% won't make it past normal mode without help.

If you plan on playing season you should be playing Softcore first starting because your hardcore seasonal character gets dumped into non-seasonal softcore.

If you are just planning on playing non-seasonal it doesn't matter because you can continue on even after you die once you realize the difficult is too high for starting scrubs

As far as the current challenge leagues, if you want to keep your prophecies don't go HC since they're linked to your char. As far as the base game I would think the market value but that's pretty much it.

Dying at 80+ I figured I couldn't be bothered with HC this league since I wanted to explore the endgame prophecies. I'm guessing the Pale Council's gonna go after the league so yeah.

Got my first reach of the council on my second to last set just before the patch

68% too. Gonna try out blade vortex with the changes today. Patching now

EDIT: What a shit league start for me :\ couldn't get in for about 2 hours and it's insanely disheartening when all of your friends are level 30 when you start at level 1 including the party I was going to level with. Seems like it wasn't quite as terrible for everyone though. At least I hope not.
