i use Grand Theft Auto cheats. just for weapons.
after i beat a game though i will use cheats to see what effect they have. that's the only time.

i totally agree! its ok to use cheats for fun but not to beat the game.

I used to cheat ALL THE TIME. Now I see how bad of a thing to do it was. You see, I used to play Warcraft and Starcraft and I cheated all the time. I also played C&C quite a bit, but Westwood didn't believe in cheats so there were no codes. Over time, I got better at C&C while continuing to suck hardcore at WC and SC. Now, I'm pretty good at Command and Conquer but I really suck at craft games, despite having stopped the cheating.
Also, I used to cheat in all the GTAs because I thought they were impossible. In SA, I didn't use a single cheat code (I won't even let myself go find the cheats). Now I'm really awesome at SA because I've learned through playing the game. I saw how much better I was when I played with a guy who immediately asked what the cheats were. We played multiplayer a little bit, and he always died really fast. I managed to stay alive and cause a lot more destruction, while he always did stupid stuff and got killed before we could get anything done. I'm glad I'm not lame like that anymore. Also, cheating in MP is just dumb. If you make yourself invincible and kill people in a deathmatch, does that make you feel better about yourself? You lose the satisfaction of earning the win, which makes it worthless. Oh, and I think that comment about Tass was referring to TWG, haha.

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

cheating is fun in smash bros because you can do stuff like, play as the sandbag (see avatar)
or play on the break the targets stages you basically get to od stuff in places that werent designed for that stuff Like playing a battle match on the home run contest track

cheats in single player = good only if you have beaten the game (thug[tony hawk]- complete all goals, unlock all cheats)
cheats in multiplayer = bad, go die if you use them cheats against friends = funny, but don't abuse them

My ethics match Squeek's, pretty much. I will cheat in any of the following circumstances:
1) I've beaten the game and want added enjoyment second time around. 2) The cheat is just for extra enjoyment without spoiling any of the game or making it easier (i.e. Big Head Mode). 3) The cheat just saves time or hassle (i.e. Sims, MORROWIND since I could technically hold 100 Restore Health/Magicka/Fatigue potions on me at all times and achieve the same effect, it'd just be annoying to constantly be using them.). 4) The game is impossible to beat without cheats (Which, gladly, are few indeed.).

I think that cheats can be used on a game unless it is played with others and gives an unfair advantage against the other players.

Multiplayer: No.
Single player: Usualy not. I ususally beat the game first, then play it again with cheats.

Do you people have any idea how much fun it is to put
in a cheat code in a multiplayer game with a freind and they dont know it? I've given myself invincilbility n one game against my friend and he just shot me in the face like 20 times until he got pissed and threw his controller across the room. But. otherwise no cheating in a game until after you beat it. It's like the rules.

When I rent a game and know Im never going to buy it, play it again, whatever, I'll use cheats. I dont have enough money to buy a lot of games, so, I'll use cheats to play the extra modes, ect. before I have to take it back. I dont use Gameshark, ect. I hate those things. I only use developer's cheats.

I use cheats after I beat the game to see how easy n00bs can beat the game with it. Or when the game gets too freaking hard to beat (Resident Evil 4). Yeah...
