I'm scared of large dogs, I dont know why, they're just very... scary >_<

And I have this strange fear of stairs with the vertical part cut out
|_
OO|_
OOO|_
= good stairs

_

OO_
OOO_
= scary stairs
O's are fillers for the air, the emptiness

I've just had this weird fear for a while. When I was little, I was scared I was going to fall through. Now I'm like 6'1" but they're still scary >_>

Yeah, stairs like that, while they look cool, are a little bit...disconcerting for me. This Apple store I went to in Chicago (my brother wanted to get an iPod there) had a staircase like that....made of glass. Holy shit. And if you fell through, you'd be all bloodied and broken. And worse yet, you would be stuck inside MORE GLASS, because the stair case had glass sides, too!

I did not like maneuvering that staircase at all.

Failure.

That's my greatest fear. Followed closely by death, and not having done anything useful.

I asked a couple people around here what their biggest fears where and it seems that the two most ocmmonly said ones where going to hell and death in general. I am honostly not concerned with either of these. The going to hell thing doesnt affect me for religious reasons, and death is just a stupid thing to be afraid of, it happens to everyone. There are worse things in the world i will admit that i am afraid of dieing at a young age before i get to fulfill most of the things i wish to fufill however, dieing in general doesnt fear me.

Yeah I don't fear death. It's natural and a path all must take in the journey of life. Wether there's and afterlife or not, it's inevitible. My fear is not getting married and ending up all alone all my life is some apartment. (An unfulfilling life)

Yeah... About that. I just don't like the thought that something so small can cause me so much bodily harm. It isn't right. (I have been bitten about seven times)

And with Clowns, they distort the natural human look. Just fills my thoughts with fear...

Oh man, I've been there, I know what you mean. But for some reason, I think wooden stairs like that are worse...because it's like, you'd get stuck and it would be extremely painful. And if no one was around, you could be stuck like that for hours.

And the stairs at my host families house in Japan were terrible. Even though they were no holes in it, they were so steep and the ends were covered in metal and rubber...and the ceiling wasnt high enough for me, so it was like...dang, I could hit my head and that would suck, and then I'd probably lose my balance and fall down the stairs and that would be even more painful. That's all I ever thought about when I went up and down those stairs. I even did fall once, because my family used the first 5 stairs as kind of...hey, let's put things like back-packs and our indoor shoes here so now the gaijin has to dodge it, maybe he'll fall!

Aw I'm sorry Mal. Old friends are worth so much... you can't make new old friends.

I don't see why the inevitability of death would make it... more comforting. Seems like it would be the other way around. I think you guys are just thinking of death in the abstract.

So you're hanging on the edge of a cliff by one hand... you know that you're gonna fall... and you know that you're gonna die. I think you guys are just afraid of death only in the present sense... like you have to be about to die to realize it.

I hate rickety old bridges that are way up. I actually "had" to cross one once... with like planks missing and rope fraying... like in indiana jones or something. It was the scariest thing in my life.
Stupid friends and I... we all did it 1 at a time.

It's not that I'm thinking of it that way... I just don't care, if that makes sense.

Hmm, greatest fear. Thats a really hard one for me. Death isnt a big one for me unlike a lot of people. My first thought is bugs. The thing that guy said about the Japenese Hornets was creepy, but then i think its just a thing that you be careful to avoid you know? My second thought is dogs. I'm told that when i was a few months old i was practically mauled by a dog, and until i was around 8 years old i wouldnt go near one. I still dont like them very much..im more of a cat person. The dark maybe? But no thats not it either..I like nighttime better than daytime usually. The only downside is that you cant see unless the lights are on. lol.. On shows like Fear Factor where they have you eat bugs or something doesnt prove anything. Just because you wouldnt eat a 6 inch long beetle or a bull's testacle doesnt mean youre afraid of them, thats more like self preservation. And the thing with people being a afraid of death.. Its just that most people are afraid of it because they dont know whats going to happen after they die. It's a fear of the unknown. Probably one reason why everyone acts so selfishly. They think "Hey im going to another life when this is done so who cares about the state of the world." or "Hey theres no afterlife so i might as well destroy as much as i can before i go down too." Where as I really care all that much about what happens when i die. You take your worlds one at a time. Anyway, my fear would probably have to be some sort of abstract concept, its the only thing i can really think of..

~My biggest fear would have to be getting buried alive...and i dont just mean buried in dirt...i mean being put in a coffin...or even a crypt....the thought absolutely TERRIFIES me!
~Other than that...im pretty scared of the dark....and i used to be ashamed to admit it...coz i thought no1 my age was scared of it...but it seems like most people on here are afraid of it too! And yea..im not afraid of it coz of like the "boogyman"...i never believed in monsters under the bed...Im more afraid of some human being there and doing somthing to me.
~Im not claustraphobic (sp?)...but im scared of getting stuck in a small place...like a chimney or something where i just couldnt move to save myself...
~Im terrified of bio-weapon type things....i've never seen all of MI II because the concept of some1 evil being able to infect people with a horrific disease pertrifies me!
~Im really scared of being alone...not really physically alone..usually...im usually quite happy to be physically alone...apart from about a whole week last month...when i was having panic attacks when i wasnt either around people or on the phone/computer talking to people....i didnt sleep for 4 whole days...or about 96 hours....i dont know why that happened....but it was scarey!
~Losing either my boyfriend or my best friend. Both of these guys were there wen i was going through a really rough stage...and they're still here with me today.
~My mum dying...im not sure what would happen to me...i dont think they put over 16 year olds in foster care...and i've got no1 else to look after me...
~Im not scared of death itself...i used to be...but now im scared of the un-known...im scared that my religion wont be real and that there might not be a heaven..there might be something else for us to go to...something similar to the Ancient Egyptian underworld...

I guess im a pretty scared person in general...

Yeah I'd fear being shoved in a coffin alive and buried. That'd be horrible.

Drowning.

Big fear for me.

Imagine having a weight chained to your legs and then you're tossed into a river or something... or even the ocean. Slowly falling, flailing in a panick, trying to breathe and your lungs explode until you just suck in a huge amount of water into your lungs and choke... slowly your body shuts down in agony as your brain, heart, lungs, etc. don't get any air.

I almost drowned once... I was terrified and crying the whole time.

It's interesting, Trey and I got back from the three day vacation at the beach late last night, and while I was there I realized I really am a tad scared of being in the ocean for the fear of shark attacks. Weird.

I also don't like having my back turned towards a dark room, It's shitty and nerve-wrecking not knowing what's going on behind you, around you, etc.

Death, I think that kinda bothers everyone though. Not so much as scares them.

MY BIGGEST FEAR EVER however, are bugs. I hate them.

Hmmm. I would say great heights. I feel woozy when I'm in high places like when I went on top of the Eiffel Tower. It was swaying and I was sure I would fall to the streets below. I didn't though.

Also I'm not afraid of the dark, but I am afraid of things that make weird noises in the dark. For example, playing Doom 3 at 1:00am with the door locked and surround sound up. Do you know how it feels to have 360 degree sound and then hear a demonic laugh down a dark corridor with lights flickering on and off? Never again.
