Default Re: TWG CXLII - A Storm of Hard and Boiled [Game Thread]

I had an interesting interaction with my professor today.

So my professor hands me back my exam, and I got a really good grade on it. Then in front of the entire class from across the room goes, "I have no idea how you got that grade", and I'm like. Wait what do you mean? And he told me that I never pay attention in class, and all I do is play some card game (hearthstone) and surf the web (mostly mafia forum games). And well, I do. Lol but I do pay attention. And I study. And i felt he had no right to call me out in class like that.

And then, Well everyone in class was quiet, and it was awkward, so I looked at him like he was dumb and then go "I very well damn do pay attention in class" Which everyone laughed at cause it came out in a jumbled mess. And then he's like, I sit next to you during presentation time, you dont take notes of the student presentations and you never make eye contact when I present, so I told him I'm very good at listening, and I take notes during his presentations auditorily. I dont have to make eye contact.

In doubles hazatds are arguably useless. They're really good in singles though. Its a difference in formats really.

However, that post above probably the best post you've made all game. Could you requote the discussion you wanted discussed that no one seemed interested in?

@Greg- if Im the hider im always hiding behind xel/mr p. Depends on which of them I can't get lynched today.
Eh if that is how you wanna see it, I guess.

That's a shame though.

I still don't see much to comment on, I'm here for another hour if anyone wants to convo up. @plop I here ya, and respect that, but I will hold off on voting for now I'd like to hear more from round and I'd like to see tokzic/mashi's presence at all, esp with 24hrs left

tho my order is fluctuating --> I also think it's kinda foolproof for everyone to mando post their hide-behinds, but have already expressed why I think this role digging-ness is for the birds

I voted on Xel, Storn voted on himself, and someone else voted on storn.... So I think that's all. atleast all that I remember.

With not much to go on from yall, and no meta, it's hard for me to base my reads.

Rzr seems pretty towny.

I like DBP for the questioning and the read on Greg.

I think Greg is definitely different this game than the last forum game I played with him, and someone else noted this.

Charu/Storn both seem like a worse version of Stromslyde (greg will get this reference)

And while I didn't originally like Mr.P, I'm definitely liking him more than Xel.

Everyone else is meh/hasnt posted yet.

And not necessarily. You seem more townier now than not. Especially now questioning things.

I honestly think day 1 is going to be a hit or miss thing for me than actually analysis until I can analyze how you guys play.

HIDER STUFF:
Similar to how everyone claims a green-check in the champion's game, everyone should soft who they would be hiding behind if they were the hider. This gives a chance for the real hider to give their info in advance, and, in the event of their death, will give info regarding someone who is most likely scum. ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE REAL HIDER DOES NOT LIE ABOUT WHO THEY HIDE BEHIND.

A brief showing of the order of operations of roles
Tracker/vigi chooses their role (Role conversion)
Hider chooses a player to hide behind
Woles/Vigi (if present after n1) choose a target to kill
Detective/Psychologist/Tracker (if present after n1) choose a player to investigate*
Hider dies if hiding behind a killing role (Wolves/vigi) OR if the person they are hiding behind is shot
Other Deaths
Investigative Roles receive results
*It is important to note that the Detective and the Psychologist receive their result AFTER the killing has taken place, making the Detective slightly stronger and the Psychologist slightly weaker.

So, with this in mind, the Hider has some interesting interactions with some of the roles, namely the vigi. By each player hypoing their future "hiding" for each night, this gives town info in the event of the hider's death. This is stronger than each player claiming a green check in the champion's game, because the hider can soft a future red check that gets revealed to town in the event of their death.

Yes, the hider does die if they hide behind the vigilante. But this isn't really a bad thing. Aside from the SK, which is obviously not present in this setup, vigilante is probably the hardest role for scum to successfully fakeclaim (if you don't know why I won't spoil it). So, if the hider dies, and mafia one way or another fakeclaims vigi, fun things will happen, and town will be in a pretty alright position still.

Everyone should, at some point before EOD, claim who they will be hiding behind. Its the best possible plan. If someone wants to be a dumbass and claim I'm rolehunting for this post, go ahead, I could use a good laugh today.
At this point idk whether you're trying to soft that you're the hider or just a wolf trying to.
