I was too swift voting and chose to have no new files in the next tournament. Although I'm still sticking by that, I honestly don't care on how the next official will be planned out. My focus is to simply get better and play to the best of my abilities.
At the very least we all know that the 11th official is going to exist which is great. I also stick with how spoiled we all are on here but everything that's done here behind the scenes is greatly appreciated. Just seeing this might make me wanna attempt to contribute to the next tournament by maybe stepping something. We'll see how much free time I have after I graduate from college (in about 2 weeks.) |

p.s. mix of old/new is the best -- use new for prize rounds (r 5/6 through 8), use old for everything else

protip: unless you know what went on behind the scenes during the last official you shouldn't be telling staff how easy it is to get all of the files

July isn't really rushing anything, tournaments were usually held close to then because people were out of school. Running them in the fall or winter usually results in less signups and participation.

all of what i said is main priority if you want to have a tournament with new files, not if you want to "rush it" i mean if you want to wait for a tournament to happen without internalized files, good luck: the last five official tournaments have required them edit: stop being a pretentious asshole in assuming that nothing is going on when you're from on the outside looking in, and stop acting like you're this omniscient being that understand how the system works Last edited by TC_Halogen; 05-1-2015 at 11:57 PM.. |

If you're gonna ask what we think and then bitch about how we're crying about what we want, why the fuck bother asking.

I'm sorry it's not what you wanted to hear. Obviously FFR has issues at the moment; that's no reason to be snappy with me for literally just answering the question you asked.

Where did I bitch? I didn't think hi19's comment was constructive. With everyone else I've been interacting and trying to explain things as it seems a lot of people don't understand the current situation.

Alright, well this is obviously going to just spiral out of control now so I'll just simply leave it as the official will happen whenever it happens then.
Just please don't be angry with me if it ends up being in like December or something. I've already said I was going to do the best I can to get all new content, there's not much else I can say or do at this point. |

Have you guys considered using files from alternative engines for the Official Tournament? They would work like dummy files to fill spots without having any effect on the current song list.

They're not integrated with the dashboard and even then the same problem applies that it's not fresh content, people could be practicing it.

Most don't have FFR permission of course (edit - I realize you probably mean keeping them on their engines, never mind). But there is little or no QA in uploading to an alternate engine, so it would not be appropriate to use them without them being judged first.

Serious post:
- the last five tournaments have required internal files, and asking them to not be used is just begging for a stand-still to happen. hi19 and ilikexd, you both know the pain that I went through contacting you guys, back and forth in the last two tournaments just to make ends meet. Tiebreakers last tournament absolutely did not help. - judgment as far as I can see/tell, is completely at a standstill and will remain that way until new judges get on board. I don't agree with everyone sitting here and saying that nothing is happening on that end, because actually does not seem to be the case. The effort to get new judges has started, and that is measurable progress. - I do agree with an earlier point in that the official tournament is best played during the summertime; initial signups are higher and dropouts are lower in the tournaments that are played during the summertime, which is why both the 9th and 10th official tournaments had lower signups and higher dropouts -- they were both played in the fall and winter. Jae's 7th official tournament, despite the mishaps, had really high signups and high user response because it was playable during a more convenient time. - The community needs to stop expecting so many luxuries (yes, they are luxuries). All fresh content is great for the community, but the fact of the matter is that it is not sustainable, and might not be sustainable unless things really shape up with getting people that are qualified, on board for content judgment. My actual two cents; hopefully this serious post doesn't get lost in the muck of me being a douchebag beforehand. |

If you use files already in-game, is there a chance that some of them are token files?

(Either that, or a painstaking process of unlocking the tokens temporarily can be done as well, I suppose.) |

Now... that's just mean, really. I don't know what you think you're explaining, but I am totally clueless about what issues you are stating here. I really wish this could be explained from the perspective of people who haven't been active on the site for years. I've been here four years, I hardly know any of you, and I probably don't understand how this site is run. I don't think many of the people here can make informed decisions, and therefore probably shouldn't be making the decisions, and you're getting mad at, what appears to be simple ignorance.
