I don't believe there is the same one reason for everyone to get an alt and do that, everyone has their reasons.

If they AAA an FMO on the alt, cool. But I don't think it's necessarily their goal to make sure the alt has oni on it. It's an easy way to actively work on your techniques as a player without the risk of having poopy scores on your main account. It's very easy for a player to be a little OCD on public level stats...especially when this game is all about AAAing songs. My second theory is that some people do it for bragging rights (aka, "Look at how many times I can get oni!"). Other than that, there really isn't a strong point on why a person should have Oni on multiple accounts. After all, it's just a token.
